Root Just created an account to post this (boost screen)

which buttons are you using for recovery mode? you said that in recovery you formatted cache, etc...

that's not the mode you need for odin. vol down+pwr+camera will/should give you yellow "downloading..." screen.
Yep, the downloading screen. I was trying to reformat the whole phone with recovery in hopes of getting past the boot screen.

The downloading screen (power button, camera, vol down) is all black with yellow letters that say "Downloading..." I am aware that this is the mode that I'm supposed to be in while using ODIN. My device is still unrecognized.

Sure there is, you get the update zip from someone who pulled it from their /cache directory. you rename it to update.zip and put it in the root directory of your SD card
You boot into stock recovery and pick apply update.zip

that's how I went from EJ06 to FA19
Is there a guide on how to do this man? Please tell me there is.

Does it give an error on computer? My brother is going to be sending his in for something kinda similar (pc issue) when he trys mass storage mode it says 'device has reported an error' Odin will not work, no usb related communication at all... I suspect it's a faulty port... Could nee same f or you

Faulty port? I doubt it. I tried 7 different ports on 2 computers and I still get the same error

"USB device not recognized."

Uninstall the Samsung drivers from program files. Install them again. Restart the computer. Disconnect from the internet and then put phone into download mode then plug it in and let windows find the driver and then Odin.

Have had a lot of problems when computer is hooked up to the net and chooses its own drivers vs the ones you install yourself this seems to solve that problem.

I meant the one on the phone
Now that you mention it, for 3 weeks my phone has been doing that "charging while disconnected" thing. The battery drained in less than 10 hours. Just last week my phone started acting better. I was quite happy.

This morning...I wish I never accepted to update :(

I said the same thing this morning when I couldn't use my fone before I went to work. The problem that I had figured out when I was told by my friend was that once I rooted my phone, the update messed with it unless it wasn't. Now I searched youtube for a video "samsung prevail stock"..and I clicked on the first ODIN video I saw and it worked..just follow the directions verbatim..because i had lost all hope until just now. I chose the EE14 version..and I can use my fone again. Good Luck.

I tried Odin twice after installing the update, was still stuck at the boot screen both times.
I turned the phone off, pulled the battery (it kept restarting after I shut it down), put the battery back in and factory reset the phone. After the factory reset, it was still stuck on the loading screen, so I shut it down, pulled the battery, plugged it back in, and then ran Odin. I tried without the boot file first, just to test it out, and it was still stuck, so repeated above steps but included the boot file, and it worked.

I have had to use Odin on my phone 5 times now, and even after the most serious "bricking" it worked out.

The USB drivers aren't helping me. I downloaded and redownloaded them + installed them and I still have an unrecognized device. Is my SD card supposed to be inserted?

It sounds to me like your having the same problem I had with mine, No matter what cable I used it would say the same thing, Your USB port on your phone has gone out, I took mine to Best Buy which is where I bought it and got a new one under my Best Buy warranty. I'm glad i bought mine at bestbuy with the warranty i can't go 1 DAY without my phone due to my boss.

Sigh, USB debugging mode has noting to do with recovery mode or the download mode.

USB debugging mode is the running of ADBD on the phone side. It is the daemon server for Android Debug Bridge (ADB)

ODIN operates in the Download mode and is a different protocol than ADB

Your problem lies with not having the drivers installed correctly

Reinstall the drivers
If that doesn't work, Try another USB port
If that doesn't work, Try a better USB cable
If that doesn't work, Try with another computer
If that still doesn't work, Send it to Samsung, they'll use ODIN on it with their known working configuration, if it doesn't work for them, they'll replace parts till it does

I wish there was a 'like' button... lmfao.

I have never had this problem, but did you try computer management? If you look at your com ports... you can find em and right click and update or scan for hardware changes. Do both, also look in all management folders and look for Samsung, adb and usb driver. Your problem is most likely in your com port, see if it has one set for (Samsung Composite usb...etc)dont stop there keep reinstalling, plus you have different drivers for each (mode) EG. DM, Downloading and Mass.

Im not trying to be funny but my pc wouldn't rec my phone either after I rooted it before that's how I know I have the drivers in and it said they were in so I uninstalled them rebooted and installed them again then it worked like a charm. Hope this helps you out.

Twice I've had my phone not be recognized by my laptop and both times it was my internet security software (Zone Alarm) thinking that every port had a modem on it and was a security risk.

Temporarily disabling Zone Alarm allowed my phone to be recognized again. Since you are unable to connect to the phone from any USB port, perhaps you have something similar going on.

I do know with both the fa19 rooted image and running ctmod 3.2 it just say USB device when before it said android device. Odin still recognizes it no matter what though. I used the driver that came with easytether.
