I've not seen/heard anything yet. I won't be getting OTA because I'm running a custom ROM.

If the update truly is here it will be but a short time before the files for this official ROM are posted on xda. If you can flash to JI6 you're competent to flash to the official Froyo. I might do that just to take a look at it.

You could well be better off flashing the update yourself; it's not unheard of for an OTA update to brick a phone. Bell up in Canada had a big problem with this not long ago.

Yea i here you the first update we received from tmobile bricked my phone...this is my second vibrant. So yea i hear what your saying about flashing it yourself.

Bovine and others with a custom ROM...are you going to try out T-Mobile's update or keep your own? I've been using Axura for a while now, on version 2.2.5.9, and I don't really think I want to go to T-Mobiles. I'm presuming it will be slower and not have all the things I love about Axura such as font, window animations, etc.

I may go for the "official" sometime down the line. But since I'm running a custom ROM that I love (nero v5), I can sit back and see the reaction/fallout from those who receive the OTA. I'll let others bum-rush to update. I'm way more excited to see what the devs do once they get the official source/files.

I might try it just out of curiosity, but doubt I would stay with it. The custom ROM's (Nero 5 for me at the moment) are pretty darned good and once the devs get the source for the official release they'll be hard at work updating their ROM's. Possibly the best part about that is they'll have the source for the kernel and can start modding it for overclocking and undervolting.

I flashed to JI6 with Odin and I'm going to try out the official ROM.
I am super happy with Nero v5, but it's super easy to go back to if you don't like the official.

I'm going to wait to see what the word on the street says.
That last update messed my phone up plus I like the Nero roms but maybe it's some optimization for battery life.

I just connected to Mini Kies and it says Upgrade available! I'm downloading now. Will advise. :D

Update: Yep, I'm on Froyo and it went smoothly. So far it looks slick. I have much to check and need to reinstall my widgets.

Be patient with Mini Kies, the "S" logo remains on screen for quite awhile while Froyo installs...

Yes the update is now available from Samsung Kies Mini.

1. Just google Samsung Kies Mini and install.
2. run the program and let it update it's self.
3. now plug your phone into the PC.
4. select Kies firmware on you phone when you are asked(if you are not asked then skip to the bottom and unplug your phone from the PC)
5. let Kies Mini run it's course and BOOM Froyo.

for those that are not asked about Kies Firmware....
1. press menu from home screen
2. press settings.
3. press applications
4. USB settings
5. select ask on connection then return to the above at step 3.

I cannot make this any shorter or easier for anyone.

I would add to be patient once the Galax S "S" logo appears. It does take awhile after reboot to fully load the update.

I tried to update through Samsung Kies but were it say Firmware version it says ( Unregistered Device )... What do yall think it might be....??? My phone is already registered on Samsungs sight..

The update is very nice and sleek, i think i will run it for a while and see what comes up next. The froyo ROMS in the past ran just as good in my opinion but at least we finally got this official update.
