how come the SD card slot doesn't work? and also my notifications sometimes won't work.. for example someone Google talked me and then when I click on it within my notifications it doesn't do anything.

One bite at a time...
The SD card issue is well known and often discussed in this and other forums. According to Google the new OS is a significant departure from previous versions of Android and they needed to design a new way for accessing external storage. Unforutunately this has not been implemented yet so we're without SD card support. Other manufacturers wrote their own workarounds for this.

okay thank you and I figured out I wasn't hitting the notifications exactly right

I just purchased my Xoom yesterday and somewhere (can't remember where) I read that the SD Card Slot will be activated with a future update. Now, how far in the future remains to be seen. I miss the extra storage. I would like to have pictures and music on my X but am afraid of eating up all of the storage space.
