Just got my GNEX

If you don't root download nova launcher. It is an ics launcher with many added features. I use it only phone and love it. Even if you root nova is great.

If you don't mind rooting, you're gonna love the customization! Are you a stickler (like myself :-P) for battery life?

If you choose to stay stock (like many of us) you'll want to do THESE:

(a) Get the extended battery. Trust me on this one.
(b) Install Lookout Mobile Security. If your phone is lost, you can locate it, remote lock it, and even wipe it.
(c) I recommend Juice Defender for getting every drop of battery life out of the Nexus.
(d) I also recommend SpeakToIt Assistant. Android's answer to Siri and very helpful.
(e) If you plan on taking a lot of pictures and videos, Camera ZOOM FX does a much better job than the stock camera app.
(f) And if you have trouble with screen brightness, Screen Adjuster is on the market and does a bang-up job.
(g) Skype works great for video chat and Wallet is just flat-out COOL. Wallet's a little tricky on Verizon, so follow these steps.

Finally, if you plan on taking videos or time-lapse photography like me, I think you will find Capta an indispensable accessory.

Hope this helps :)

Benefits of staying stock as opposed to rooting? I had my tbolt rooted (obviously) and running CM7 - freaking loved it. I am familiar to all of this, just wanting to know everyone's input.

By the way, ICS is VERY sexy. Love it so much already. I do, however miss my options with Cm7.

AOKP ROM is my favorite ROM. Lots of features and most I use so I don't feel like it has too much overkill. It's fast, and with nova launcher prime, gestures and cm7 features are hardly missed, if not available with this combo. I use LeanKernel and its little script buddy, LeanTweaks for extra geeky fun! Enjoy and unlock that bootloader, will ya!

:rolleyes::D

+1 for AOKP for more customization and features. If you used cm7 I think you'll find that AOKP gives you back some (if not all) of what you miss - like toggles in the notification pulldown.
