Just got my hands on one. Check it out

Not true. There is 8GB user accessible storage on the original Inc. I always kept video and visual voice mail on internal and everything else on sd. Shows up as two separate flash drives when connected to a pc.
I think he was referring to apps stored internally.

Right, which cannot be accessed by anything other than HTC apps. No 3rd party apps from the market (besides file explorers such as Astro, ES, Root...etc) can read it, and the developers have shown no interest in rewriting their code. Again, only 768MB of that 8GB are able to be used to store apps (232 less than the Inc2) and the other 6.6 is only accessed by the already installed apps.

So, actually 1 gig is quite alot of storage for apps to be stored. I finally get it!
I didn't realize that the stock apps were not included in that 1 gig.

Right. In the OG Inc (feels weird saying that) the 8GB internal storage was actually 6.6GB user accessible and 768 app storage, the other ~0.6GB were partitioned into System, Data, Datadata (the infamous 150MB partition), and Cache (as well as others, but these are the major). Likely the Inc2 is partitioned much the same way in that they started with 4GB internal storage and then subtracting the aforementioned partitions= 1GB app storage left over and they're relying on the 16GB SD card to be more than enough storage for the user (which it will be).

For storing files locally, the orig Inc had the built-in storage of around 6 + gigs. The rest was for apps. Total I believe was 8 gigs. If I remember, the orig Inc came with a 2 gig card. For the new Inc 2, you have no built-in storage, you however get (as mentioned above) a 16 gig card.

Almost right. The OG only had ~760 megs for App storage. Look up a couple of posts to see my break down of the partitions. It had 8 gigs total, but ~600 megs (not the 1.6GB that I posted earlier, sorry) went to System, Data, Cache...etc.

The way you're saying it, it sounds like the 6.6gb internal is only accessed by the already installed apps, but it is also available to the user for storage, just like sd. Just thought your statement was confusing, so wanted to clarify. Also, you say no 3rd party apps can access the 6.6gb, but that is also incorrect. I used Astro all the time to move stuff to and from the internal storage.

What good does that internal storage do? Nothing besides HTC Music (maybe the Android music player too, but who uses that ugly thing?) can read music off of it, ditto for photos and videos. There are alot of users, like myself, that don't use the stock Sense ROM so we're just basically screwed if we have something such as photos and music on that internal storage. I already stated that Astro and other file explorers can, but that really doesn't do any good unless you're using it as a thumbdrive. One particularly good use of that storage, however, is what Team ADX on XDA have done in turning into a solution used to dual-boot ROMs. Beyond that, its really not very useful. The 1GB of app storage and 16GB SD card in the Inc2 will be FAR more useable for the average user.

I am glad to hear that. But not all apps can be transferred to the card.

Yea the 768 is MORE than enough for apps, i had well over 300 apps installed up till a hard reset 2 weeks ago. The inc 2's 1gig is awesome but hopefully the 150mb partition has been addressed... thats all i ask of this phone.

Anyone that has one notice it being weird scrolling between homescreens?? Or was that just the display one playing tricks on me?

What weirdness did you notice?

It was like no matter how i scrolled from screen to screen i 'always' accidentally selected something.... whatever icon my finger/thumb was close to or widget was on that screen. No matter what i couldn't scroll through all the screens without selecting something accidentally every time....

Edit: tested my original Inc and the thunderbolt and had NO problems.........

I have a DINC2 and HAD a TB. No diffence between them as far as I could tell. Both are silky smooth

Hmm... yea, I can't say i've experienced that either. Scrolling and selecting are both very smooth processes for me.
Thanks!! Probably just a issue with the display model

its a huge deal to alot of people including me

I am wondering why exactly? Seems you have the iphone, why does Inc 2 having more memory than the original Inc matter to you? This phone still has more USABLE memory than the first Inc

Read the posts then maybe we'll discuss it. The way you just worded that reply clues me into the fact that you read nothing I asked you too. You're caught up in the iOS world so its understandable, but aOS apps do not behave the same and the current status quo for them is completely different.

I really don't know what you're talking about. My wife has the Inc now, but I used it to store music and video and never had a problem accessing that from any music or video player while running Skyraider.
