just got my new rezound

LOL!! That app of the day looks pretty good. Reminds me of the old 2D side scrollers. So is it only free for 24 and then it stops working or what?

lol, they only give it away free for 24 hours but once you download it it's yours. Tomorrow they'll charge for it again and you'll get your chance to get another free app, but the one they have today won't be free tomorrow. As long as you have the Amazon App store installed on your phone, you'll get to use the free app. I wiped my TB a few times in the past and tried to launch these apps without the Amazon store installed and it didn't like it. It's like having your Google account on the phone before using Google apps.

And SHHHH about turning the Amazon app into a 24 hour trial, they may change how they issue the free apps, but for now they're completely free. Enjoy and feel free to thank my post :p

Downloading Amazon app now. Thanks

lol, I was joking about the Thanks....what do you get with all the "thanks" points you rack up anyways? Does St. Peter review all your "Thanks" at the pearly gates? "Well it shows here you have 89 "Thanks" on AF, but you begged for 30 of them, I'm sorry but you need 60 "thanks" to get in here....." DOH!

Can someone please comment on if this phone has the quick battery drain from 100% to 86%ish like a lot of previous HTC phones??? That and camera quality are the two things that may sway me from another HTC phone....

They already have actually. The answer was no to the battery question and there are reviews and sample pics from the Rezound posted in the camera thread as of last night/today. They look great. I know I took some pics in Walmart yesterday and for a minute the pic looked so good it almost looked 3D. I'm sure it was just a fluke or something with the store lighting but still I was impressed. not sure about low light stuff though. I haven't gotten around to that yet.

I've been to the PeopleofWalmart website. The last thing I want out of those images is 3D rendering...YIKES!

About the only reservations I have on the phone's camera is that the colors don't look natural. They seem to almost have an orange/yellow hue to them. Granted I don't use my phone's camera anticipating masterful pics.

i've been unplugged for about 3 hours and 5 minutes and i;m at 84%. this is with some gamep playing and texting and a couple pulls for email. also downloading a few apps. not all on wifi, but a lot of it, since i'm at home.

Honestly I was expecting some variation of what you said but in a much more coy way. I thought I'd be the hero by making this sacrifice and she just wasn't having it..lol. On a slightly different note as much as I am pleased that I bought this phone it's become very obvious to me that i have a lot to learn about smartphones in general. Spend all of late last night trying to get wi-fi to work and then being paranoid about if it was still on when I finished. I had some issues logging on to my on home router..lol. Not problems with the phone mind you just with me using the phone correctly. Ended up tinkering around with the pass-through function just to get some piece of mind.

I have 2 questions for the forum. 1.)Does anyone know if there is a diagram or display that shows what all the little icons and blinking lights on the phone mean and 2.) Could you guys recommend a couple of MUST HAVE apps for a smart phone. Speaking of which anyone know if there is a good forum app like tapatalk but free?

You might wanna try downloading the user manual(s) from the thread on here. On one of the pages on the full user manual shows all of the icons that appear in the notification bar at the top of the screen (like 3G connected, 3G transmitting, data roaming, missed call, etc.). The link that durangojim posted is to a full user manual. The 2nd link is to the HTC support page and has the same user manual plus a quick start guide.

i went outside to do some video and camera testing and i could see the display just fine. No, it wasnt nearly as good as the Bionic was outside, but take away the sunlight and the bionic display looks like crap.
I'm indoors more then outdoors as i'd expect most people are, but when im outdoors im usally involved in other activities that don't require me nit picking on my phone display.

its not the best display for outside but honestly if your complaining you can't see it at all then have your vision looked at.

There are so many outdoor scenarios... direct sunlight, indirect sunlight, cloudy but still bright, etc, that this is impossible to gauge. But based on the tech with each screen, this is the general "ranking", all other factors equal:

The Bionic will be the brightest and the easiest to see no matter how bright it is outside. This is b/c it uses a RGBW pentile matrix which adds an extra white pixel. Therefore it looks brighter all the way around, and the whites are very white - but the drawbacks are the pixelation associated with Pentile on LCD, and certain colors/gradients don't always render accurately.

The Razr will be the next brightest b/c it's SAMOLED + Pentile - but it's RGBG instead of RGBW, (extra green pixel instead of white) which is why the "whites" on the Razr tend to look a little tinted, or some might even say a shade of green, and why it's not as easily viewable in bright situations like sunlight. It also tends to lean towards colors being a bit oversaturated thanks to the combo of SAMOLED with the RGBG pentile - blacks will be more black, colors will theoretically look deeper/richer, but at times it looks oversaturated. It will also have some pixelation issues due to pentile.

The Rezound will have the most accurate rendering of colors, gradients, etc, and the highest resolution. In a dark room, the Rezound should look the best. But it uses a standard RGB matrix with it's LCD screen, and therefore will never get as bright as the other two, and will tend to wash out more at angles and direct sunlight.

My personal opinion is this... as far as beauty and accuracy, #1 Rezound, #2 Razr, #3 Bionic. As far as brightness and battery efficiency, #1 Bionic, #2 Razr, #3 Rezound. It really is a "pick your poison" situation with screen tech right now. And it will be with the Nexus, too, for what it's worth... ;)

You made some general comments but my concern is this specific screen performance in bright but not direct sunlight. THe evo3d (for example) completely washes out - it is not usable. THe evo 4g was a bit better than the evo3d but not great. I am well aware that the photon, bionic and atrix screen hold up quite well outside; but my concern is how does this screen perform. Is it as bad as the evo3d (useless), similar to the evo 4g not great but occasionally passable, similar to ...

I just got mine a few hours ago. I think my screen visability outside was ruined by the crappy Verizon screen protector they sold me. Its a better mirror than anything. Its dark now and I've been concentrating on getting my apps moved. Maybe I'll have more to say about it tomorrow.

GPS did fine with the little bit of testing I did.

Better Keyboard has been removed from the Android Market. Sucks A$$. I hope they will get that straightened out soon.

Size: I have little girly hands. It is a handful, but not as big a difference from my slick, hard to hold Fascinate I was thinking. The textured back helps you grip it which is a big plus. I can't push the "on" button one handed. I have to grip it front to back and put a thumb print on the screen.

Screen: Seems really nice. I haven't put any pictures on it yet. Copying my SD card now. A year ago the Fascinate had the screen everyone wanted. I always thought it put a strange blue/green tint to things. I'll let you know.

Battery: Too early to tell. I don't live in a 4G area, and 3G isn't that good. So I won't be good resource there. Just around the house I could watch my Fascinate count down like a timer almost. I had the Rezound off the charger for awhile earlier and it didn't move.

Didn't want to start a new thread on a kind of silly question and this seemed like a good place to ask.
The clock widget shown on every screen shot I have seen of the phone, is a widget, right? I read the google toolbar doesn't come off the nexus, and I hope the clock is in fact a widget (that can be removed), and not some permenant part of sense.

Yes it can be removed, though it is a sense only widget

I'm somewhat fond of this clock, but I find it a little impractical.

Screen brightness, on auto, is perfectly fine for me outside. I can read both black-on-white text and white on black text with 0 issues. No issue viewing images at all, you DO have to get it goin up in the brightness but its actually brighter than my old Droid2 and it never had issues outdoors either.

I've had a little more time to play with mine

I think its fast. The apps load super quick. I think it has gotten faster as I've used it and rebooted it a couple times after loading apps or data.

I'm learning to turn it on with one hand. The size issue is going away pretty quick. (see my post a few posts back)

Mine gets warm to hot really quick. Are any of you having trouble with this? Seems a few people had mentioned they weren't.

And I am in love! It's amazing! Also after having the incredible for so long and fighting with the battery since day 1 I am so impressed by even the stock battery life!

Can you go outside in the sun and see if the screen is still visible ? There seems to be mix reports on various reviews ranging from not very visible off angle, slightly washed out, totally washed out unview able.

Thanks!

I'm getting the same variation too..

Coming from Incredible AMOLED anything has to be better than that.. but I want something drastically better, not just a little bit.

I can't use my INC AMOLED (full brightness) when it is sunny out and I want to end that chapter.

Is this true when it is very bright (no clouds) or only in the shade ?

I can't speak for everyone but I haven't heard anything about it nor does mine start getting hot unless i push it. Surfed the net for a long time today then watched a full HD movie then played Eve Of The Genesis for a while. When I was done with all that and my batt was at like 10% it was hot but I could totally see why..lol.

Again going from my own experience I haven't had a problem seeing my screen outside on a cloudy, partly cloudy, or sunny day. There have however been a few times when I have had diminished screen visibility on a sunny day if I was standing at a bad angle and have had to change my viewing angle for things to be more visible. So far this has happened very rarely. It kills me when people say stuff like if you turn the phone to an angle where it reflects the sun or you view it from a 3/4 angle from the bottom you can't really see the screen. How about you just DON'T DO THAT! Duhhhh! I mean there will be times when you do catch a bad angle on any phone but why would you purposely do that...sigh.
