Just got my Photon!

Correct. There is NO sd card with the phone. It comes with the Li-Ion battery, AC Charger with USB cable, SIM card installed, Get started guide, another booklet for terms/conditions, and a bag for recycling an old phone if you want.

wow, so it doesn't come with headphones?? that sucks./

Wooohoooo!!! My Photon just got here. Now to get rid of my crappy Pre! (Had an EVO and Hero but sold them when I foolishly left Sprint, Pre was the only phone I had left)

I am not at all upset about the lack of sd card or headphones.

Given the onboard memory, if they included an sd card it probbaly would have been a completely useless 1GB card just to fill the slot.

As for headphones, aren't the ones that come with phones complete garbage anyway? Besides, unless this is your first phone, wouldn't you already have a pair (or 5) from your previous phones? Let alone actually owning a decent pair you actually purchased at some point.

EDIT: I didn't mean for this message to be as snarky as it might sound.

Yeah, it does suck. Even my crappy Epic came with a 16gb MicroSD card and headphones.

yeah, that is the best thing or used to be the best thing when getting a new phone.. didn't have to pay for headphones :( But I can understand why Motorola didn't send it with one.

I still have my pre I traded with someone a while back from a blackberry from a Hero lol. I want to trade back to Android but I don't know if I should just wait.

Not necessarily, most of my phone headphones are actually good but they get messed up from me. The reason i like headphones in the box with a new phone is because they have the pause/play button I like so much.... Besides, paying for them is overrated lol.

I can see why they did not include the sd card but still it is the first one in quite a while that i get that didn't include one. It just forces me to stop being lazy and go get that 32 gb one that I've been wanted to get for a while now.

anyway....

so at 1:45 something tells me go home and see if they dropped off the box. Especially since my mother in law is away on an appt, there isn't anyone home and UPMS has a habit of taking things back to the holding depot.
Well i get home turn the corner and park. I look out my side mirror to make sure that no speeding cars are coming to open the door and what do I see a big brown truck about to cross over the avenue.
As i get out he honks me (this shocked me since never once did any deliver truck honk at me like they knew me) but it so happens that he says I got two packages for you. i guess he remembered me from another waiting episode, but i don't remember the guy. lol

Anyway, first package is the padron peppers (which those that followed me on Google plus, know what I mean) and then the box I've been hoping for. The Sprint Box. woo hoo

So I go int the house and unpack one to get it charged for my spouse when he gets home, and take the other one to work to play around with.

The box is cute, unlike the one that the EVO 4G cam in (you remember the egg carton) well the front has little cut outs of the world to symbolize the world phone capabilities.

On the back of the box it does lists all the frequencies and it does list the following bands..
CDMA frequency band 800MHz/1.9Ghz,
Wimax/4G band of 2.5-2.7 Ghz,
GSM band of 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and
UMTS band of 850/1900/2100
So there you have it a world phone.

isn't she pretty. :D (or handsome for those who don't call their phones pretty) lol

All the accessories that come in the box.
Sorry, no sd card.

More pics to come later,,
btw i can confirm that the HTC EVO 4G's usb cord and or the usb wall charger does work with the Photon.

TS out

Got mine about 1 PM (ordered at 11 AM yesterday). Nice looking piece of hardware--unfortunately, it's still in the box until after work.

Excellent. Confirms that this phone is indeed quadband GSM and that Moto's spec. sheet on the web has a typo (as most thought it did since it would have made no sense to leave out GSM1800).

I finally got mine at 4pm almost exactly. and i was so negative earlier, i didn't think it would come!

Has anyone who have their photon already figured out if the webtop feature can be used without the dock? & also how much of the 16gb memory is available for apps...

On the device shawheim got, there were close to 3gb of internal space, just dedicated to apps.

Just got mine, unboxed and setup. First initial thought is that I really like. I don't notice in major differences in the screen quality compared to the Evo. Oddly enough it feels smaller than the Evo. I guess just more comfortable? It's hard to say but I def. like the way it feels in hand better than the OG Evo. As far as call quality the speaker phone is really good, but when off speaker phone it kind of has a cave effect when talking...not an echo so much but like you feel like your voice is amplified or something...kind of strange but def. not a deal breaker. I'm a loud talker so it will probably make me talk a little softer now lol. One thing that is pretty annoying is that I had a CSV file I sent to myself from my old phone to gmail for my contacts and it is not letting me download it from the mobile version of gmail...grrr.

Oh I wanted to add that you can see the screen door effect on the display if you look hard enough. Of course this is not a big deal to me but I know it is for some. Also I like motoblur over sense in the short time I'm using it...just my two cents.

Bolded for emphasis! Music to my ears.

Not sure I like the cave effect, but sounds like something I can deal with. Isn't there some sort of noice cancelling thing on the phone that was being talked about? I really can't remember completely, but I wonder if it's a setting that can be turned up or down.

Easy fix. Turn off "mobile" version on the browser, log into gmail through the browser and you can try setting it up that way.

Screendoor effect isn't a deal breaker for me, but how do you compare to the EVO? You think it'll be something that I'll noticed compared to the EVO?

I didn't notice it at first, I feel like the screen looks a little better...but I've always had my Evo on the low brightness since the battery on the Evo was horrible. The screen door effect is not noticeable unless you really focus on a select set of pixels such as the signal bars. For me it'll never be a big deal but if you were super anal about your screen resolution and all that jazz I could see it being annoying...but again I bought this for business, it's just a plus it can do everything else.
