Just got my Zmax!

Hi everybody. I've just picked up my Zmax from a MetroPCS store and its working out great so far.

I come here to ask what are the basic do's and don'ts with this phone such as firmware upgrades and the like. I'm looking to root it and get the Butternoob ROM up and going without breaking it. lol

Easiest way to go about that is get temp root.... flash the newest TWRP from hroark.... Then flash butternoobv2 please make sure you do a backup through TWRP before flashing it'll make helping you if you run into problem a whole lot easier....
 
Thank you for the response; seems pretty simple.

Also, should I just go ahead and temp root it or ignore this small update that its requesting I flash? The device was running 4.4.4 out of the box.

Butternoob v2 includes that update already so go ahead and flash... Remember to follow the instructions for flashing bv2 that the dev posted.... After the flash the first boot may take a bit don't flip that's normal
 
Mingo tried to make it the most up to date image he could.. Just remember not to take any ota updates after your done flashing everything that would be bad news
