Just got this phone today.

Been using it for about 5 hours now. No problems so far, everything runs extremely smooth, no problems with Virgin Mobile related stuff (calling, sms, etc), overall kickass phone. My only bugs are..the keyboard. I just can't seem to like the keyboard it comes with. But I guess I'll have to download another one. Also, it is quite annoying that you have to pull the back cover off and pull the battery out just to take out the micro sd card! Wish they could've made an sd card slot at one of the sides. Oh, and for some reason, when I go to Settings>Storage: it says I have 1gb of memory left. But when I pull down the notification bar and tap on Quick Settings, under all the toggles it says: Total Memory: 797MB. Makes me confused:confused:

I hate the stock keyboard. I use A.I. Type keyboard with iPhone theme, I like how clean it looks.

As for the keyboard, there are plenty of others you can download. I know a lot of people like Swype, and get the Swype beta keyboard (need to download from the Swype website). If you want another keyboard, I'm sure there are plenty of threads here about different android keyboards you can download from the Play Store.

As for "memory", your 1 gb that you have left is storage space (where programs are stored when they are installed); the 797 MB is the memory for programs and the screen that are currently running and which is erased when the phone turns off.

As for the SD card, most people just keep their SD card in and don't swap it out -- particularly if they move programs to the SD card. Having it under the case makes it a bit more secure, which most people prefer.

Wait, are you saying that this phone DOESN'T come pre-installed with Swype????
I LOVE SWYPE I NEED SWYPE

No, it comes with an HTC version of Swype, which most people don't seem to like as well. If you go here you can sign up to download and use the beta version of Swype that works very well. It also seems to work quite well on the Evo V.

I like swiftkey. It's very good at predicting text, I can type paragraphs without typing many characters.

Not a big fan of swyping.

Hi all. Just got mine today. Huge improvement over the Triumph (btw - for sale $100!). I'm not crazy about the keyboard either, but I usually voice dictate my texts and I have a Zagg bluetooth keyboard for my tablet that works just fine with the EVO.

So far, no issues whatsoever. Got my phone# switched and the phone activated in less than 10 minutes! Already taken a bunch of 3d pics and one video. Here's something fun: Take a 2D pic then take the same pic in 3d and compare - pretty cool actually.

Is this "HTC swype" the same thing that's on the wildfire?

+1

SwiftKey keyboard allows me to enter text reasonable well. On every other keyboard I found my error rate too high.
The odd thing is that it is actually easier to type in the whole word than to abbreviate SMS rexts.

My only complaint is the recent layout change. I liked the old layout better. Typing in a ~ is more keystrokes than before.

Other keyboards look better, but this one actually works.

I love swiftkey as well. its way easy to text people and predictions are insanely accurate. but i would also loved if swiftkey and Swype mated lol.

You should try calibrating the stock keyboard. It was essentially unusable to me out of the box, but I saw the 'calibrate keyboard' option in the settings, and since then it's actually worked very well.

Wildfire had real swype, HTC has a copy called htc trace that they put on the evo. You can still add swype if you prefer.

Ew why would they do that? Wildfire is an HTC, too.
I tried to install betaswype on my phone but it wouldn't go past the install screen. Downloaded and everything but never installed. And why is it orange?

Wildfire is older and had GB.

I had to get my Swift Key 3 back. I'm useless on this stock keyboard. I tried the swyping thing and it's cool but I'm sooo slow at it. Seemed super accurate though!
