I think so much about these protectors is a preference issue that it is futile to objectively say what's better or worse. I personally like the feel of the Zagg but also I am annoyed by the finicky wet installation issues that others here talk about. I don't think scratches on the DX screen will be as much a problem without a protector since it is glass. But without a protector it is more prone to smudging or cracking if dropped which is why I use one.
I bought Zagg after trying the worthless Verizon static protectors that don't even cover the whole screen. I chose Zagg simply because it was the only HQ protector readily available at Best Buy without mail order. I burned my first Zagg protector by not being careful enough during install and ended up with lint particles under the film. When I tried to remove it to get rid of the lint, the film folded on itself and ruined it.
Best Buy was charitable enough to give me a fresh one for a second try. This time I was meticulous in making sure the install area was dust free, furnace vents were off, hands were washed, etc. I believe I did as careful a job as anyone could and it did come out better. Others online said the Zagg protectors didn't fit the DX exactly, but mine did when I massaged the Zagg film edges to fit the DX exactly while it was still wet/malleable. I spent a good 30 minutes messing with it to get bubbles out and shape it, but couldn't all the "micro bubbles." So I left it overnight and here's the deal, the thing isn't perfect but it is fine. If I look at it through a microscope (i.e. up close) then I still see imperfections like little bubbles that never went away and some lines, but when viewing it normally, it looks great. I personally like the "orange peel" texture of it and most of all it feels like a truck could hit it without hurting my DX.
I'm sure the other online protectors like Steinheil Ultra Crystal, Wrapsol Ultra, Boxwave Crystal Touch, Seidio Ultimate Screen Guard, etc. etc. etc. Are all fine too, but frankly I don't have enough energy to go through the process of the careful dust-free installation again. Perhaps if Intel would let us OCD phone people visit their microchip manufacturing facility where we could don hazmat space suits and try installing a few of these covers in the sterile vacuum dust-free zone, then it would be OK. Otherwise, I'm good with the one I've got for now.
