Root Just rooted. Data speeds +++

I personally don't plan on rooting until a goldvard is nit required. Partly because this is my first android device and I won't be risking my phone on a root that isn't officially girl the Inspire. Don't get me wrong, root is one of my top priorities, but I can wait a few...

Matt

Eventually the company I linked below will have a one click root option. Soon hopefully. Check out the link. They pretty much focus on all HTC devices.

bah, I just want to install TeamViewer. stupid that I have to root it to install the program I was waiting to come to Android before switching from my iPhone... and I can't install it because its not from the Market.

Thanks, found a slightly more painfull method already.

Installing 3rd Party Apps - xda-developers

only had to install the Android SDK, HTC Sync, and the JDK 6 Update 24 with JavaFX 1.3.1 SDK. And then I made a batch file with the line adb install nameofapp.apk for each app that I wanted to install. I just wish there was a way to install it directly from my phone and not having to use a computer. This is my first Android and a little disappointing. (Silly AT&T)

Um, does Astro File manager from the market not work on these phones>? I just downloaded it and it gives you access to your sD card and everything on it. Just put the .apk on your SD card and use astro to install it. Thats how it works on every other android device.

I did try that, /mnt/sdcard/downloads/teamviewer.apk and it still gave me the error

Another way you could try (though you already got yours installed) is to remove your SIM card and then try to install using Astro file manager. With the SIM card removed, I think the AT&T block on unapproved apps goes away. I may be wrong, though.

I have not been able to find the answer of this my question, I have a HTC Inspire 4G rooted with SuperOneClick. Once you have rooted your device, you can remove the SD card and upgrade to a larger SD card, or if you made the gold does the SD Card that you made have to stay in the phone for it to operate? I know that you will have to copy all the information to the new card, your images and customs ROMS. I'm now running on 2.3.3 Gingerbread and the phone is awesome.

Your goldcard is only needed to get S-Off. Once that's done, you don't need the goldcard anymore.
