Help Just Shuts Off When Low Battery Without Warning

Hey Guys,

I've a little issue with my HTC Desire, for some reason everytime the battery drops low, down to around the 15% mark it will just shut down and power off. That's it, it doesn't give me a chance to even plug in the charger by warning me.

I know on other HTC devices it pops up at 15% that the battery is very low and to connect a charger, but they don't shut down.

Mine literally turns off the second it drops to 15% and says it has only 1% and starts shutting down, so I don't even get a chance to plug in the charger.

Anyone else having this issue or is it just me?

My desire has been factory resetted 2 or 3 times but it's always been like this

Hi Robobo, and welcome to AF :)

The battery warning comes when you hit 15%. However, if the calibration is wrong you may shut down earlier, in which case you won't get the message. This isn't affecting battery life, just means that your battery percentage is reading incorrectly. Sounds like your is shutting down just before the message would be sent.

There are threads on battery calibration. Though I generally find that if mine actually does run flat and I charge it fully after that (while powered off, I think - it doesn't happen often) that generally seems to reset the calibration adequately for me.

A factory reset won't change this, so you can save yourself that hassle.

Hi Hadron,

Thanks for your reply,

It certainly does sound like there's some collaboration gone wrong somewhere. But as long as I've had the phone (nearly 2 years now) it's done this. Not once have I had the chance to get the charger in before it dies.

I've also got a battery monitor app going so I can see exactly what percent I'm at when it goes, and it's always just before 15%

I'll have a look into re collaborating the battery and see if that's possible

Cheers
