Other than that ill use revoked i rekon for easinessonly worry is i wana have the ability to put the phone back to normal if possible before selling ect is this acheviable thanks in advance

Welcome. My advice to you, read Danfrance's root guide it's excellent, then read it again, then again. Don't do anything until you understand, if you dont, we're here to help. We'd rather help you do it right first time with lots of questions, rather than you f**k your phone up and we gotta help you sort out the aftermath. Sounds daunting doesn't it lol, but they really are a friendly bunch on here so don't worry.

Cheers guys ill have a read at that guide now that we can move apps to sd stock what are the best parts of owning a rooted phn

Not having any sense, is a very good part, but I primarily rooted because Orange blocked the wifi tether capability 2.2. Then there's customisation, and you don't have to use HTC Sense. Oh did I already say that? Hmmmm. Like Shauny says, read about it alot, and don't be affraid or ashamed of being a noob and askin stupid questions. I'm not. :D

Had a look at faq really good im sold aha i hav simfree desure running 2,2 pvt3 anything i shood wirry about i use orange sim at mo

D'oh. Typo. Yep, SIM and also if youre flashing roms.

As I say, not sure if its only orange branded handsets that cause trouble with simlocks and stuff, but best to be safe.

anything i shood wirry about i use orange sim at mo

Be polite.

Never eat yellow snow.

I have an Orange Desire and it'll be fine, (I think I took my SIM out though). However I did have some shenanigans with it the other day when a corrupt sd card decided to kill my phone! I learn't that before I should do anything to get all the stuff I need together. Load up all the tutorials you prefer to use, make sure you have all the files you need ready downloaded unzipped and ready to go and try to do it daytime into evening when there are likely to be more people in the forums who can help if something stalls.

I only rooted for the second time last week, but as soon as the problem was sorted I had root, S-off and an N1Table installed in about 30 mins.

You may not want to go that far, but planning sure made for a less stressful night.

Cool my phone aint orange branded its a sim free model. I think im going to use chevy1 rom looks nice anyone used it? I have newest radio so hopefuly shoodnt hav to worry bout flashin 1. Is ther a way to back up your stock nand so i could revert if i need cheers for all the hflp guys

you can only back it up once rooted. If you take a titanium backup of apps and data, if you restore to stock using an RUU (which wipes the phone to new), there is a special app that will let you restore that data onto stock though.

Im strugling here lol cant come to terms with this radio stuf do u have to flas a radio im already on latest radio lookin for a rom thats like sense but custom icons or themed sorry for all the aniyance jus id love a post that details in noobish lingo how to root step by step from the rooting to wat clockwork is to roms aha wood be a massiv post lol or maybe i shood jus search more aha sorry for bein a noob jus wana get most out of my desire with no faults

No, you dont have to flash radio. Have a look at my rooting FAQ

EDIT> in regards to themes. you can theme any custom rom. Just flash any rom you like first first then we'll guide you through that.

EDIT 2> pretty much all your questions are answered in the rooting faq ;)

Ok im thinkin ill use leedroid rom whats 6our opinions i like the gingerbread roms as they have the cool 3d appdrawer but ther a bit unstable by the sounds of it

You can use launcherpro ontop.od sense and get a 3d app drawer. You can try it instead of sense and see if you like it.

Very configurable so takes a while to set up as you'd like

Look in the homescreens thread and you'll see many.people using It
