K 9 Mail problems

I'm having a hard time with setting up my school email with this app. It let's meet set it up but after i do it only let's me receive mails but it doesn't let me send it out. Is anyone else having this problem if so do you know how to fix it?

Perhaps a mistyped SMTP server name? Or maybe an incorrect port and/or security type? Have you verified all those settings by comparing to a machine that does allow successful sending?

If you use a PC with Outlook (or some other email client) and can send/receive emails fine then compare those settings to the settings on your phone.

Sorry i might sound like a noob at this but thanks for being patient. I can't seem to find the settings to compare it with my phone settings. Where do i find the settings from my school email account on my laptop?

Depends on what mail client you're using. In Outlook, you would go to Tools > Options > Mail Setup > E-mail Accounts. Then double click on the account you want to review.

It'll bring up a window showing the incoming/outgoing servers. Pay attention to those and make sure they're exactly the same on you phone. Then on that same window, goto More Settings > Advanced to see your ports and any encryption settings. Now for your phone, the incoming server should be the same, however the outgoing server may be different. For example, on my Outlook, I'm using port 587 with SSL encryption but on my phone for the same account, my email app defaults me to port 465 when selecting SSL/TLS. Still works great from either source however.
