Help K9 mail and wifi

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum. I'm having an issue getting mail to send while my wifi is on. I'm on an EVO with 2.2 and using K9. I get the email with no issues, but as long as wifi is on, emails will not be sent. Anyone know of a fix for this?
