Kansas Missouri 3g gone?

In arma Kansas and Joplin Missouri I've had 3g since I got here until a week ago after a storm. I'm on latest perl and tried flashing all the others along with network settings but can't get off 1x. Did they drop a tower or anyone have a clue?

I lost it about 2 weeks ago while I was on a trip to Chicago, and it never came back. I thought something was wrong with my radio, but I guess they're blocking 3g in extended home areas now.

3g probably still works in native MetroPCS areas, I think they just disabled roaming on Sprint's 3g

Today I traveled to Tulsa Oklahoma. Same story as other 2 states. I get 1x or evdo (doesn't say 3g but has signal with no data). I cannot keep this service for long running solely on 1x, its usless

If these are areas where you've normally had 3G I would politely tell Metro that in a Message to them on Faceplant. Also leave your last name and the last 4 of your number.

I think they'd want to know this. It seems likely to me that in the transition there's gonna be areas that get glitched.

I'd be calm and collected and Factual but you might want to also let them know you staying with them is in jeopardy if that's the case.,

I don't think its a few areas. I think they simply stopped 3g roaming on Sprint's network everywhere. It was 1x from Baton Rouge all the way up through Memphis and up to Chicago.

They said I'm in a 3g coverage are. *228 fails so we manually activated by Nam programming and still nothing. That took along time with them and then I was put on hold for 20 minutes and disconnected, useless

If this is truly the case someone needs to push this issue.

It would seem to violate their "terms of service" that says you're supposed to get 3G in extended home areas. How they accomplish that is actually irrelevant.

If Metro wants to say "This is just temporary while we finish the refarming" then I can see that enough not to argue much further but still, they ain't said That yet that I've heard.

I would definitely stay in the rear ends on Faceplant and not let them blow it off. (If I really thought they were blowing it off in backchannel, I wouldn't hesitate to make it a Really Stanky discussion on their main page. I Don't Think they want it to start going around that they are already Cutting Services to their customers as a result of the merger. :D

Something is amiss here.

I am NOT saying anyone isn't having problems But, IF what has been surmised is twue, that the Sprint 3G roaming has been turned off for extended home areas then I would assume I woud see a full involved inferno on their Faceplant page from all the people who at least had 3G data before and now for all intents and purposes have NoGee. There ARE a couple people saying they are having 4G dropping in Dullest/Fut Wuth and interestingly someone has noted that here. However, there's no other numbers of people raising hell about loss of Data that I'd expect.

Color me cornfuzicated.

I didn't do it on fb but I will when I'm back home. When it first started I noticed my perl was reverted back to 32 so I pushed 33 again with no luck. I also tried the s3 perl with no luck. There are not really any local stores here but I will go out the way to one. If I have to I will use my sister in laws prepaid and reactive my motion when 4g is available.

Well I have unbricked, reprogrammed, restore backups and tried different prls. Does anyone know if I can take my phone to T-Mobile since their is one local? There is no metro pcs anywhere.

Hey omgbossis21,

I moved your thread to the MetroPCS forum since its happening on some Metro phones in different areas across the US :)

Metropcs isn't even required to give you data in extended home areas especially not even 3G since it says next to extended home " 1x available in some areas" they never even officially announced 3G roaming on Sprint it was shown through leaked PRL's which they eventually canceled so since they decided not to push the PRL's with 3G roaming they probably said why the hell are we still paying Sprint for it then and then they turned it off without saying anything to anybody since they never actually allowed it anyway

Well still stuck in 1x or evdo with no data. Going to start looking for a new carrier unless I can take the phone to T-Mobile store?

It might help some if there was some clue (profile, anywhere) where you are.

However, "There is no metro pcs anywhere." may be a clue. Are you even in a Metro coverage area? Have you chatted with one of the Dallas employees on Facebook?

Usually where Metro has good coverage they have stores on top of stores. Maybe having no store means they know they have no coverage there.

And the coverage map shows the same.

I'd contact them calmly but firmly on Faceplant via Private Message, leave your last name and last 4 of your number.

IMO, they should at least provide you the 3G service you should have or waive your bill until such time that they can restore the service.

It appears you are clearly in at least an Exteneded Home Area. Make them provide that or else.

FWIW, on Faceplant via Messaging I ask the Mothership flat out if they had terminated the roaming agreement with Sprint or if there was Anything with the refarming could case a widespread Extended Home Area 3G data drop. Also told them there are some reports of that.

I'd be surprised if they answered Yes to those questions via a Faceplant message but stranger things have happened. I'll report back if I hear anything but blah, blah, blahblah.

[EDIT] They answered back to basically standby, they were checking on my questions. Sounds like at least they're checking on what to say Vs just some canned reply.

Bruce maybe you didn't see it before but here
MetroPCS isn't even required to give you data in extended home areas especially not even 3G since it says next to extended home "data available in some areas" they never even officially announced 3G roaming on Sprint it was shown through leaked PRL's which they didn't release and eventually canceled so since they decided not to push the PRL's with 3G roaming they probably said why the hell are we still paying Sprint for it then and then they turned it off without saying anything to the public since they never actually allowed it anyway
So the were going to allow 3G on Sprint they had everything set up already but they never did even they few phones that came loaded with the Sprint roaming PRL when calling *228 to update roaming list it was put back to the 1x only on Sprint PRL
