Help Keep synced email accounts after ROM installation

Biaviian

I have done some searching and I see that some people are able to keep their email synced (stock email application) even after a factory reset and installation of a ROM. I have tried to replicate their steps (using TiBu) and I can never get the email accounts to restore. Does anybody have a fool-proof way to do this?

I follow The_Chief's document of backing-up all apps and system settings, creating an install zip file, then restoring selected system settings and all apps.

Just updated to AOKP and did the Tibu to reinstall my email. Didnt keep all the settings though. Not a huge deal in that I can fly through all my settings now at this point, but I understand the hassle for someone not used to doing this.

What exactly are you doing in/with Tibu? I can't figure out how to use it to restore my accounts.

In Ti, Im clicking on the option at the top next to the magnifying glass that looks like a white sheet with a checkmark. Then from there, scroll down to "restore" and then the first option "restore missing apps with data" - hit the RUN button to initiate that.

Are you restoring everything or just certain items? Did you create your backup by backing up "all user apps + system data" or did you do another type of backup?

What I am doing is create a backup with all user apps and system data. Then I create a zip from that. Next I flash the ROM (And any other necessary steps) then I install the zip file. Finally I go into Tibu and restore all missing apps and system data.

Im reinstalling, with data, all the apps I had downloaded on my phone previously before the factory reset and AOKP install.

That's odd that it works for you but not me. Are you installing the gapps?

Well, yes and no. It works in that it reinstalls the app, but it doesnt work in that none of my data is there. I have to re setup the email app after reinstall.

Well shoot, here all of this time I thought you were saying that it was all coming back to your phone. I thought by settings you mean notification, days to sync, etc... I sync all of my emails for my work email address so the sync time is a big hassle, not so much the setting up (I can do two accounts in a minute or two).

Yeah, sorry you misunderstood. I tried multiple ways to figure out how to get my settings reinstalled to no avail. Just have to set up the accounts in a minute or two like we currently do. Oddly enough, all the settings to my other apps were all reinstalled. The mail apps(gmail/exchange) were the only ones that didnt reinstall entirely.
