Root Keeping 4.1.57 root with 4.1.83?

Is it possible? I can't connect to WiFi because it tries to update when I do, only prompted twice then started on its own. There's no process for it to me to freeze, that I see anyway.

I can't use GingerBreak, my Atrix won't recognize an external SD, didn't notice until after my 30 day return period. And it only showed the pop up twice, then started on its own. com.motorola.blur.updater isn't showing up now or when it tries to download.

Not good; if your phone does not see the external sdcard, my words of advisel I would unroot, undo any mods (all of them) do a factory reset for good measure and if it still does not see external sdcard, have warranty exchange it. I know you will lose root and everything, but no sdcard is a major defect and with as much as you paid, it should work. Oh and by the way, even if it downloads, you still have to click ok to install it.

[EDIT] This is odd, I am unable to find the com.motorola.blur.updater as well. I found another post that said to freeze updater 2.2.1 (mine says Updater 2.2.2, but I am running 4.1.83). Try that

I'll try it, thanks.

EDIT: Freezing updater took care of it, thanks. Gonna see about the SD tomorrow.

Try formatting your card in your PC, then see if the Atrix recognizes it. My card became corrupt at one point so that the Atrix wouldn't mount it but my Linux PC would. So I formatted it on my PC and it's been fine ever since. May or may not work for you.

Depends on how you rooted. If you rooted using GladRoot, you can simply run afterupdate.bat (or afterupdate.sh on Linux) after updating to 4.1.83 to regain root. Worked perfectly for me.

It's FAT32, right? I've formatted it as 32 once and nothing, gonna try another when I find one.

And I did use GladRoot. I'll try it tomorrow, thanks to you, as well.

Yep, FAT32. One last thing to check. I know this sounds like a dumb question, but are you sure that you're inserting it in the correct orientation?

Does the Atrix try to mount the card at first and then reject it, or does it do nothing when the card is inserted? If the card is "bad", the Atrix initially tries to load it. If the Atrix doesn't do anything, then the card slot is probably bad.

Yep, logo up, right? Worked perfect in my Captivate, just recently tried it in this.

It doesn't do anything at all.

EDIT: OK, strangest thing, starting taking my OtterBox off and it acknowledged the card was there, stayed mounted for about 10 seconds, the it showed it being unexpectedly removed. Couldn't duplicate. Gonna swing by AT&T to see if it works in theirs or they have a spare SD floating around.

Before the edit it sounded like your slot was dead. Not sure about the situation after the edit. Did you try to go back to a factory reset to see if it works then? It could be some software is intercepting the OS calls to the card. Not likely, but possible.

It worked in another Atrix, about to factory reset. Wish me luck.

Factory reset was in vain, guess I'm just out of luck. :|

My SD card wasn't showing up on my rooted Atrix so I flashed my phone back to the stock firmware (4.1.26) and everything has been fine since. I have of course rooted and updated since then to 4.1.83. SD Card works great at this point still.

I tried that, too. It's fine, 16 Gigs is plenty. I'll probably hijack my wife's iPod. Anyway, I'm rooted on 4.1.83, which was the whole point of this thread. Thanks once again, guys.
