Help Keeping Google Play Services from growing too large

I got rid of the Facebook app, the Facebook Messenger app, and the Google Play Services app, because they kept growing to huge sizes: the Google Play Services app in particular kept growing to over 90 MB. How do I get another Google Play Services app, and how do I keep it from growing so large?

How did you get rid of Google Play Services app?
If you just uninstalled the update you should not have a problem.

You can't. Google Play Services is a core system process that many other apps/processes depend on to function. The reason it "grows" is that data accumulates as it's used; you can delete this data from Settings/Apps/Google Play Services periodically but the only way to prevent the data growth is to stop using Google's services.

OK; I had uninstalled Google Play Services, not just the update: how do I get another Google Play Services, or some substitute for it?

Download a gapps package that correctly correlates to your device's Android OS (JB, KK, LP..ect) and flash with a custom Recovery, if possible. If there's no recovery made, then extract the apk, place in correct folder(s), with permissions matching others in system folders. Reboot and sign in to Google play, if necessary
