Root Keeping screen on during phone calls

Hey everyone, I have a Motorola Triumph running Cyan Mod 7.

I like the Rom and have been running it for about a year. But I don't like the way it acts after a phone call and was hoping someone could tell me if I have a setting wrong or just let me know what I can do to fix this problem.

When in call and the phone is against my face, I can see the screen constantly going on/off, constantly. When the call is done I want to press the end key but that is when the screen is off, and it stays off. Either I have to wait for the other party to end the call or I have to press the power button on my phone to get the screen to come back on so I can press end.

Is this normal for Cyan Mod 7? Do I just have a setting wrong? I would rather have the screen on all the way through the call and waste battery than the constant on/off, and staying off when I need it on. I really don't use that many minutes to be worried about the charge.

I have "keep screen awake longer" checked. Is it a proximity sensor issue?

In short, yes.
This has been an ongoing issue with our build of cm7 for... A long time.

The best you can do is try to stay current with the updates. Don't know what version you're running, but it doesn't seem as bad now as it had been on some of the older builds.

Does CM9 have the same phone call issues?

I have been thinking about trying it out.

Well, to the best of my recollection, it's not much different as far as proximity issues. It's hard to qualify, because it doesn't seem to be consistent. It's hard to say if some are more tolerant of the problem, or if it's different according to individual devices configuration.

I have the issue occasionally, but mostly it works fine for me on cm7.

CM9 differs in camera function (sorta fixed, but still needs work) but in my opinion seems smoother than cm7. I need fool proof camera (front and back), so I'm mostly sticking to cm7 for now.

I really think CM9 is better performing, but you must decide for yourself.

Sorry it's not so cut and dried.

Edit: on re-reading your OP, the flashing during call thing hasn't really been a problem for quite some time. If you aren't already on the 3.3.13 version, try it. Otherwise, try a full wipe and reinstall.
