keeping the droid powered off while charging

I'm sure there is a thread for this but i can't seem to find it but does anyone know if you can keep the droid powered off while charging it? i have the dock and every time i shut down the droid and put it on the dock or plug in the micro usb the droid powers back on.
is this possible at all?

Like the poster above me said, the answer is: you can't. The phone is made to be on while charging. Period.

I have no idea why this is, and am wondering if this is the same for all Android phones. I don't mind either way, to be honest.

I work 3rd shift and sleep all day. I used to like to turn my phone completely off while I slept and while it charged but found out the first 2 days I had my Droid that it kept powering back on when I turned it off and plugged up the charger. My solution was to keep the phone ON but turn the ringers OFF by using the side volume controls. Off would be one notch past vibration. Thats proving to work just fine.
