Root Kernal question?

So I have the voodoo comm rom installed and I'm trying to change the bootup animation. I've heard it depends on what Kernal you have whether you'd be able to do this. So my Kernal version is: 2.6.32.9. I put the bootanimation.zip in the /data/local and also tried the system/etc and I got nothing. Any ideas on if I need to try a different kernal? Do I have a different Kernal than what its showing? Also what cautions should I take since I'm on Voodoo now in regards to flashing a specific Kernal (do I need to turn off voodoo on next boot or anything like that?) First time on voodoo so I'm trying to respect what it can potentially do.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Nope, you using a standard animation zip? And have it named correctly?

As far as I can tell...

/data/local bootanimation.zip

Should the "b" be capitalized?

Only other thing is under the bootanimation.zip it says in italics:

Jul 31, 2008 8:00:00 PM rw-r--rr--
466.51 KB (47710)

That mean anything?

OK, I was using the below and I believe most if not all are flashable. I guess this is easier for me.

[Boot Animation] [5/01/11] A Huge Collection of Boots ~ Updated - xda-developers

This way worked PERFECT for me and it was sooooo easy. Thanks for putting up the link. No offense to the other way but I think all things used for customization should be flashable. I guess most are but this was less time consuming and I didn't have to buy any apps to make it happen. Thanks again.
