Root Kernel Question.

I'm newly rooted (yesterday) and I'm running the VirusRom and I'm trying to put a kernel on my phone but every time I boot into recovery and go to install from the sdcard card the file isn't on my sdcard. any reason why this might be? thanks for any help.

Did you put the Kernel in the Root of your SD card?

There's a new app called kernel manager lite. Try that out. You can download the kernel and wipe caches and install.

It doesn't have to be on the root of the card. It can be anywhere.

You dont ever have to wipe data when flashing a kernel.

Maybe cache, or dalvik-cache, but never data.

If you download the kernel manager from the market it will wipe the cache and dalvik for you before it flashes it nice app

You should be able to do this with no problems in RM and you shouldn't have to wipe or reset anything... no need to dl another app. Also, Just a heads up.. if you do manage clear your dalvik-cache ever you may have to re-setup your widgets. I've had to do this a few time's.... and if you have allot of widgets.... it's sort of a pain...
