Root Kernel questions

Hey, I've been out of the loop for a while. I'm running cm7 7.0.2 and was curious as to what kernels beside the stock would be recommended. Anything new and noteworthy? I've been reading about a smart ass kernel, what is that? Any help would be great.

Chad's Incredikernel latest stable is great. I've run that and stock and haven't tried others...

You can get Chad's here:

Make sure you get the GB one...

Some noob questions:

I'm using CM 7.0.3 and (so far) it's working fine. What would changing to Incredikernel do for me that the CM kernel doesn't do?
Any risks involved with flashing a "bad" kernel?

I like the smartass governer option. Best battery life I've gotten. Quick charge. Missing other stuff I'm sure...

I was going to make a new thread but then i saw this one so i rather just ask it here.. Anyone know the best overclocked kernel for the stock rom that is the most stable?
I've made a couple of searches and alot are pretty old and suggest a hydra kernel but those apparently are nowhere to be found now..
I've tried Chad's incredikernel Froyo Sense(what's the difference between froyo sense and froyo aosp?) "2.6.32.27 Incredikernel 12/23/2010 - HAVS + sysfs (190)" being my 2nd kernel ever used and it was fast and snappy! but my calls where being dropped frequently and it didnt do that before... also after two days of use, for the first time ever that i've had my incredible(a year now) it restarted a couple of times and got into a restart loop at one point which made me go back to "HeyItsLou_Custom_Sense_Kernel_8_FINAL" that i've been using in which has been working flawlessly but it doesnt go over 1ghz..

Help?

oh and btw i dont really want to change roms :/ im trying to avoid the most bugs and issues as possible.. thanks
