Root Kernel source coming soon?

It's almost late August...........they have the source is it really that hard to upload a 90- 120 mb file that makes people 100000x happier

Welcome to HTC. There is a movement going on to get HTC to comply to the gpl .

I'd suggest googling it if you want to join the cause.

I'll give ya a hint and say it started in the xda evo 4g lte forums. On my phone so I can't direct link

And when they do, they better release the code for the radio. I am going to examine why the software that couldn't recover from radio interface shortage error.

They won't release radio source. No reason for them too. If it wasn't for gpl they wouldn't release kernel source.

To much damn politics with HTC :(..

They make a fine piece of hardware..but geeeez they are a pain in the butt..

I really like HTC phones...but using a few of them and seeing the struggle that HTC developers go through ...unlike anything I have seen so far in my short android career..

Almost all have issues.
LG, you should see how locked down the Elite is. Despite having source, and an update to work from we still have yet to get a working recovery. I suspect ALL Lg phones from here on out may use a similar lock. It's brutal. We have had several devs take a look and so far pretty much all we have to show is a bunch of bricks.

Even Samsung owners complain. The S2 has some issues and instead of fixing them,, Samsung focused on the S3. The S3 is having case cracking issues ( I heard class action being thrown around it's so bad). The only one that seems decent is the Nexus, and I wouldn't expect to see another CDMA variant as Google doesn't want closed source drivers, which rules out almost all CDMA radios. Plus, while it seems to have lots of pure Android, it has little else. So yeah, it's wide open, but you don't get a lot of variety.

With Google owning Motorola, again, I wouldn't count on many more CDMA phones from them. Regardless, I have heard horror stories about them.

Pick your poison...

I have always been a HTC whore since my first HTC diamond. I bought one Motorola since and I haven't looked back. And honestly for this phone specifically why do you need kernel source. It's identical to the 3d so their source works with ours.

But with the one v I had no kernel source and got cm9 and cm10 almost both fully functional.

I like custom kernels as much as the next guy but since 3.0 its pretty much universal and the split between sense and soap kernels aren't needed anymore

Lol..yeah I guess they can all be a pain the the ass..but I have owned 5 Samsung's and 2 HTC phones..to be Samsung seems much easier to work with..especially with odin , those phones are damn near un brickable..unless you go pissing around with the radios and CDMA..or certain partitions mainly the boot partition..I know the transform was a kernel nightmare..comparable to your lg...many many bricks..but as far as the s3 goes I own one as well and have had no issues as of yet..Motorola is an avenue I have not taken yet..Samsung is my wife..HTC is my mistress ..don't get me wrong I like HTC..I just think they should be a lil more compliant as far as source goes..

Since downgrading our HBOOT pretty much turns our phone into a Sprint Evo 3D, wouldn't a kernel release for the 3D do the trick?

But something to note is the absolute stock HTC 3.0 kernel will boot both sense and aosp roms
