Root Kernels of the non popcorn variety; does one type replace all?

Just curious if kernels come as pieces or as a whole? For example, if I flashed a kernel for color correction and then wanted to flash a kernel to fix touch screen sensitivity, would the second kernel overwrite the color corrections made by the first? Or are different kernels separate from each other for their respective purposes? Thanks

Color correction can be done using an app. For example I am using Franco's kernel r83, but i'm using these color/gamma settings (set through Franco's app):

Whites 40
Mids 44
Blacks 76
Contrast 19
Brightness 4
Saturation 42
Greys 20

Red - 255
Green - 255
Blue – 255

As for touch screen sensitivity i'm pretty sure it's driver related so you shouldn't have to flash a different kernel. I remember reading a while back you could downgrade the touch driver and it gave better sensitivity. I've never found the sensitivity enough of an issue to bother, but to each their own. Nexus devices are meant to be tinkered with after all.
