Root Kernels?

So I attempted to install both the stock undervolted and OC kernels from hydra on my Dinc, which is on the stock ROM. Both times, It was power cycling and not getting past the boot screen so I just did a nandroid restore and left it as it was. Any ideas on how to get the kernels to work? I feel they may save battery more than setCPU would for me, but I am not sure why they dont work.
Thanks

I am not an expert, but here's what happened to me:

1. Installed Hydra kernels with stock ROM = boot loop
2. Went back to stock kernel with Nandroid
3. Installed 3rd wave ROM (from Adrynalyne)
4. Installed Hydra kernel, no problem

I don't think the Hydra kernels are compatible with the stock ROM (??) but seemed to work with 3rd wave.

Now if I install a custom ROM, what are the advantages, and can I revert to stock if I want to or when/if froyo comes out?

If you're on the stock 2.1 ROM, the new hydra kernels won't work.

Advantages to custom ROMs: Froyo, stability, customizable, overclock/undervolt kernels

You can revert to stock quite easily! Just download the PB31IMG.zip and restore through HBoot and you're back to complete stock. The whole process is painless really.

Hydra kernels still dont work on my phone, it will boot up but gets really buggy. Screen is not responsive, reboots alot and sound causes it to freeze...

What ROM are you running?
Which Hydra Kernel are you using?

I have tried all the most recent kernels including the stock speed undervolt one on frankenrom b5 and thirdwave. Also I tried the ssuv kernel a while back when it was v2 and had similar issues. Screen would work fine, but when the phone would wake up to play a sound (alarm etc) it would freeze for 30 seconds or so then reboot.

I finally gave up and was running the stock kernel for a while, yesterday I installed adrenline's new kernel and that works fine if that helps at all...

Now I have clockwork's ROM manager installed. If I DL a ROM, can that flash for me? Are there any good ROMs that are not on 2.2 anymore? I don't want to have to run unrevoked forever and turn s-off. I'm not looking for anything too crazy, I just want sense to be there and be able to use an undervolted kernel to save battery. However, if anyone has a link they can PM me to the older kernel from hhydra that would work on stock rom, I'd love that!
Thanks

Yeah, if you just use a stock .32 kernel, your phone should work. If you want to try one more, try the 0.5 hydra stock speed undervolt kernel. You mentioned you tried the 0.2 kernel, but that isn't compatible with froyo.

It takes all the work out for you. You download a rom and when its done downloading, a popup will come up. If it's a completely new ROM check off both boxes which read something like "Backup existing ROM" and "Wipe data+cache." Once you do that, you will reboot and your rom will be installed. Also, make sure you have your apps backed up, because this will literally clear EVERYTHING.

So are there any hydra kernels I can get that still work on stock? Or any undervolting stable kernels at all?
Thanks

do you know where I can find these?
I have googled, and even looked for other kernels that would work but almost all are 2.2 roms only now

I wish I could help here more, but no I do not know where you can get them. I wish Hydra would put them up on his website for people still on 2.1 ROMs to use them. Search XDA, that's probably your best bet.
