Root Kernels?

How close are we to a custom kernel for the Evo V 4g? I would love to overclock the CPU and GPU, Unvervolt, etc...
I would love a port of MeanRom but just a kernel right now would be great!
 
You can load MeanRom just fine, or do what I do and use Swagged Out Non-Sense, which is based on Mean Rom.

Any Evo 3D rom compatible with Sprint's Evo 3D will work just fine on our Evo V 4g, but until it's modified for Virgin Mobile you won't be able to do picture messages.
 
HTC policy is it will be released within 180 days of device release. I check everyday for source and tweet bugging them everyday.
 
You can try Chad Goodman's AnthraX kernel. It worked for Evo 3D's with the leaked VM ROM, so I imagine it would work with the VM Evo V.

Note, you'll have to register to see the thread. And it has the most horrible color scheme on the face of the planet:

THANKS! I didn't know I could do that. I thought flashing an EVO 3d rom would break the whole phone RIL.

Im not going to go into details but chad does not comply with gpl and I will not support it. It is nothing more than ramdisk edits which you will see no benefits from really

No problem.

I notice a couple oddities every now and then and I dunno how much is me living on the edge of coverage and how much is the rom and/or phone, but sometimes when texting I get messages about radio resources, but it doesn't effect my texting. They pop up like Toast messages, so they go away in a moment.

MMS appears to send, but I can't receive. I've not tried picture messaging anyone but myself, so who knows.

The reason I like Swagged Out Non-Sense is because I liked the benefits of Mean Rom (single core when screen is off, etc.) but I don't like Sense. SOS is Mean Rom without Sense, plus a few nice extras.

I find all my roms over at XDA.

As an aside, thanks jmz. Your guide let me boost my ego by being one of the first ones to fully S-OFF the V 4G :D So now I feel like I know something :D

Yeah mms will be broken. You can fix sending easily but incoming is the harder one. When I get some spare time I will write up a tutorial to patch mms

The AnthraX kernel works. I get 3,500 in quadrent overclocked to 1.5 Ghz. The major problem is that the Camera Doesn't work, it just shows up black
 
Ok so I flashed MeanRom but I get to about the lockscreen after its done with the boot animation and it reboots
