Help Keyboard & browser issues?

Just received my new Nexus and trying to get my head around its features. A couple of things I don't like (at first) is the keyboard not having punctuations behind the buttons that can be selected when long pressed.
Secondly, the stock browser doesn't seem friendly on the eye when searching for Bookmarks, its kind of messy compared to HTC's Sense UI.

Is it just me or am I missing something? As a 'get me by' I have installed SwiftKey X keyboard & Opera browser which appear to be good alternatives but I would really like to hear what others think of the standard options and preferred alternatives.

Thanks, I look forward to hear some replies.

I love Swiftkey X for the very reasons you mentioned, i.e. easy access to punctuation. I really don't like the stock Android keyboard at all.
The new browser isn't bad, but I often had problems with switching screens browser windows. I suggest trying out Chrome, which I believe is still in beta, but I find it much easier to use.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I will try Chrome. I just found the standard browser awkward having to shuffle your thumb to the top of the phone to hit the Bookmarker icon AFTER hitting the page icon !!!

Its seems a little back dated to me.

the fastest way to bookmarks is long pressing on the back button. This is what i do. I also notice that the stock keyboard has some of the punctuations at the top of the keyboard for you to select, i believe in other to see this you have to time the word you want and then press the space button, once you do this you will be given choices of some punctiuations to select on top of the keyboard.

I know this sounds petty but being right handed it seems a long stretch for my thumb to reach the top left corner of the phone to reach the bookmark tab. I am currently trying Chrome but it has a similar set up to the standard browser. Opera is looking the better option at the minute for my personal use.
I am liking SwiftKey X keyboard though so that will stay.
