Help Keyboard Disappears While Texting

Hey guys,I just picked up My Skyrocket yesterday and so far I love it but I been having a issue.Where I'll be typing a text msg and as I'm typing the keyboard will disappear.It does it quite often.Anyone else been having this issue?
Forgot to mention that when it disappers.It will just kick back to home.

What keyboard do you use? When did this start? How long have you had the phone?

I would head back over to the Att store. you shouldn't have to troubleshoot a phone that is a day old.

Yes, i just got it yesterday and it does it a lot. It will just kick me out to home. Im using the android keyboard which I think is the same as the gingerbread keyboard. Ill take your advise and exchange it.maybe I just got a defect one

Does it do it on all of your applications or just SMS?

I had an annoying hardware issue with my captivate before where the capacitive touch buttons would malfunction, specifically the search button. it was an issue with that phone where moisture would get into the phone and cause the button to press itself.
