Root Keyboard Issue

Rhaseo

I have a MyTouch 3g with a 3.5mm headjack (not the fender). I have this weird problem where, every ten minutes, the keyboard stops working. Every other touch option works BUT the keyboard, and it is only resolved when I reboot the phone (then ten minutes later, the keyboard stops). I'm running 1.6 and it's not rooted. Is rooting the only solution to this problem, or is there another way -- only because I need my phone for the week but don't have time to root.

Just letting you know I just started having the same issue....

However, I'm running 2.2.1.... So that means I'm either looking for a Root or hoping to get the issue fixed by T-Mobile.

Rooting sounds like the solution for me, because I'm convinced that this phone will run faster if I wrangle it a little bit.

However, check this out:

Still slow after factory reset after FroYo update?... - T-Mobile Community

Even though I did a cupcake re-install, an SD format, and a 2.2.1 re-update via T-Mobile, I'm calling tech support in a little bit, at the recommendation of the people in the store.
