Help keyboard not lighting up

Lurker
My slide out keyboard stopped lighting up. So has the lights on the front of the phone such as the "home" and "menu" bottoms (ect) anyone else having this problem? I have tried restarting and removing the battery several times and nothing has worked.

Not true mines lights up when ever I open it. Sound like you need to take your phone back and get it looked or replace.

I probably worded that poorly, but I'm pretty sure that turning off the keyboard lights when it is bright is intended behavior.

If I am in a well lit area, they will be off, but putting a thumb over the light sensor will turn them on.

First off putting your finger over the light sensor would simulate it being dark :) but my keyboard lights up in the light or in the dark. Your home keys( home, menu, back, search) should light up when every you interact with your phone

Yes I realized my error on that one after I posted, hence my edit.

The device exhibits the same behavior with the capacitive keys as well. I'm still inclined to believe the behavior is intended, it acts consistently and makes sense from a design standpoint (battery life).

Check under bright light, the threshold is pretty high.

In actuality its high enough that unless the OP is constantly under light fixtures or Florida sun they should see it kick on.

If the keyboard doesn't light up in a dark room or at night time, its time to take it back and get a new one!!!

I solved the problem as mine was doing it as well. on the left and right side of the keyboard right next to Function key and the thumb pad where the phone begins to rise up you may notice the plastic has not been removed still from that area. Peel the plastic covering from both ends and that should solve the problem as it did for me.

I am having the same issue as well. Keyboard and the buttons on front won't light up anymore. I removed the plastic on the back of the screen now and the keyboard lit up when I did that. However, I am still having issues. I had a case on it and took that off now. Any other ideas? Otherwise, I will probably just take it back and exchange it tomorrow.

And actually after I did that I went ahead with a hard reset again of my phone which so far seems to have solved the problem, but I will keep you all updated if it happens again.

No plastic at all. I just started a factory wipe before I read this, so I will let you know what happens. Or, was there another way to reset it?
