I finally found a good link for Better Keyboard 8
now that it's been taken off the market.
That said....
I'm not so sure how I feel about BK8.
It's extremely customizable, but for some weird reason
I think that I might still prefer the Go Keyboard that I've been using over BK8.
Maybe it will grow on me with time, I don't know.
It's nice to have the option to switch now if I want to though.
Thought maybe you guys might like the link as well. :)
So here you go:

What are some other good ones that you all have tried?

I didn't know that had been removed from the market. I've been using it for months now since soon after I got my commando. After trying a couple others I liked it better than the rest.

Yeah...it was removed just before I got my Commando.
It bummed me out because it looked like they had the most skins to choose from.
Skins aren't everything though.
I'm actually glad it took me this long to find it because
it gave me a chance to use the Go Keyboard.
As it turns out, I really do like Go's better.
I uninstalled BK8 a short while ago.
Still nice to have it saved, just in case I want to try it again later.
Maybe someone else can benefit from it.

I really like the swype option for the standard keyboard. Do any of these other ones have swype?

Actually the only one with "Swype" is Swype, its a TM brand name not just a gesture. i migrated from a samsung winmo, it was the first with swype and i loved it. these phones come with T9Trace, a similair gesture but far inferior to Swype. To get swype on a non samsung droid I believe you have to register for the beta.

I have found in my case that the slideIT keyboard is quicker than stock and being able to increase the size of it verticaly to compendate for the small screen, I get much more accurate input than stock. it also has a soft key that activates google TTS so if you get too frustrated you can dictate instead, works well indoors but background noise like in the car kills it. The demo is free, give it a try.

Hope this input can make someones experience all the better,
John

PS: My friend picked up a GS2 with swype, he knows I miss swype and tried to rub it in; I washed my commando in a running sink, wiped it in my T-shirt and told him my battery lasts a few days on a charge. He looked like he was gonna cry.

I tried "go keyboard" for a day and didn't like it. It would occasionally freeze when backspacing among other qwerks. I'm back to better kb8. I like it alot better.

Ok downloaded Swype, and so far so good. I like the voice input option. I'm not 100% sure but I think the voice input on the gingerbread keyboard is better. Do they both use google voice recognition? And I don't like that there's no arrow buttons.

Just in case you want to check it out:
Go Keyboard allows Trace, which is similar to Swipe.
It also allows for a Voice button to be used with Google Voice Search,
as well as the arrow buttons that you want.

Weird...I've never had that issue or any other.
That's actually the reason that I like it so much.
I also found that Go Keyboard handles prediction
and punctuation (especially when it comes to contractions) alot better than BK8.
TomAto vs Tomato, right?

I tried the go keyboard too, and I really didn't like it. I even tried using different skins. I found using trace better, and now Swype.

Yes, Swype is way better then T9, I guess thats why they bought them out...I've tried the T9 Flex keyboard but have been getting crashes, now uninstalled. So far, the beta of Swype is sweet and haven't had any issues yet.

I'm stupid, Swype uses the google voice search as it's voice recognition. The regular google animation isn't there. Where can I get a trial or free version of flex t9?

I got mine for a discounted price at the Amazon app store, they have one discounted paid app a day promotion.
