Help Keypad Problems

My keypad keeps on freezing and becomes unresponsive. so i have to turn it off and turn it back on to get it to work, but it only works for a little while and becomes unresponsive again. there is nothing wrong with the touch screen it only happens on when i try to input text. Has anyone else had this problem?

I haven't had this problem, just a thought but try a different keyboard from the market.

My phone is rooted, and I use gingerbread one. You may or may not be able to get it.

Select the keyboard in settings when downloaded, and remember importantly go to a new message and in the text field long hold to select the new keyboard.
