Did you get the teller to scan it at an angle?

Ditto on that. Loved the concept, have hated the execution. Had no problem scanning cards in. However, having them read at pos has been the issue.

Any recommended method would be much appreciated. My wallet would also thank you. So many store cards, so little leather.

I have tried it at CVS, Bestbuy, and Kroger several times and never has worked for me. Scanning barcodes works great though.

Wish we could figure out how to make it work better.:(

tried it once, at CVS last week, worked immediately first try. The clerk was a younger man, said he knew it would work because a lot of people have been doing this lately.

I have a similar app on my ipod touch, it scans pretty well with the handheld scanners but the built in scanners rarely work.....and I never hand it to them, I hold it up for them to scan, if it won't scan they can type the number, still easier than carrying a ton of tags on my keys or cards in my wallet.

There's another similar app for the Droid called HandyCards, I may install both and compare.

My cards scanned into my Droid no problem but the scanner at PetSmart couldn't scan the phone. No problem. She just keyed into the register from my phone. Still a win for me since I got rid of all those annoying keycards which half the time I forgot to take with me anyway.:D

Scanned cards into my Droid Eris just fine. On first try at an actual store scanner (Borders Books), it did not work. Does anyone have a list of other "Key Ring" type apps that are available?

Mine just worked at CVS this morning. Does not work at my gym. I think it depends on what kind of scanner the store has.

I had one success and one failure at Stop & Shop. Seems using the gun and trying different distances seemed to help. I don't think it's Keyring's fault just that scanner tech is oooooold. Keyring is a great app imho.

Tried it yesterday at Giant Eagle (big grocery store chain), didn't work. :( I knew the teller and she would've tried longer, but somebody got in line behind me and I didn't want to hold things up. I'll go back again soon, after Christmas and try again.

Watch the video. It works great if you zap the bar code 6 inches away with a hand held line scanner. if its a table top with multiple rotating lines, it will not work. I used it at least once a week and it works every time. As long as its a hand held scanner that projects a line.

I found the easiest way to get it to work is to scan close, then pull the scanner away while holding the trigger. When it gets to the sweet spot, it accepts the code. Works every time!

I think Avongil is right. I just used it successfully at Blockbuster. The clerk used a hand held scanner. I will continue to try it other places. Thanks for the info, Avongil.

I've been using the apparently since the second week I has the phone. I work for CVS it works every time like the developer said it only work with the guns not flatbed scanners. Best buy doesn't work for me. I think its a combination of their barcode being so long and their gun they use. ALBERTSOns works

I've been looking for responses in the handycards thread about this same issue... I can scan the cards into the droid without any issues but when it displays the barcode on the screen, I can't get any scanners to read it.

I tried at the gym, 2 different grocery stores and none of them worked.. in every instance, I was the one holding the phone. One time at the grocery store, I went in the self checkout register, so I could spend a couple minutes trying to get it to scan.. no luck.

Finally, I pulled a handheld computer at work with a hand scanner in it out and spent 20 minutes with that trying to scan any of the barcodes I had in the system.. none of them would scan... all I did was burn out my retina when the laser reflected into my eye.

great idea, I have it, but it does not work..

no work on flatbed scanners - and the devs admit it - the ones used in like 99.9% of the stores. I only know of 1 place that has a handheld scanner gun and that is Home Depot and they do not have a card..

I only use it so I can manually have cards #'s on hand if needed
