whats the benefit of waiting for it to appear on intratechs thread?

Someone on xda has provided a download link.

i would never flash anything that intratech hasnt posted.. call it trust :D wonder wat the differences are.. im assuming its 2.3.5, right? i'll probably wait for the cf root kernel to appear too, before.. but yeah, im just getting used to KI3.

hope they remove the vibrate symbol and get the scroll bounce back, although i doubt thats gonna change

nice, thanks. the package is still using KI4 modem? hmm, think im waiting to see if there's any difference before i flash :D also for the cf root kernel

That link is for KI4 daz

I'd give it a few days or so first. Let the guinea pigs iron out the problems first!

Can you explain what the difference is between all these numbers, so ki8 is the latest and thats the build number, but baseband is ki4, im lost.

Why bother? Nobody outside Samsung knows what differs from build to build, so you're chasing shadows. ;)

Samsung uses letter codes to denote release versions (A=1, B=2 etc), so I=9 and K=11. The format is year/month/build, so KI8 is the eighth build of Sept 2011.

i suppose the assumption/hope is that each update brings with it improvements

the mystery of what's inside the update adds to the appeal

"life is like a box of chocolates, never know what ya gonna get next....."

Early indications of this are good if the members on xda are anything to go by.
Apparently its snappier than KI3 (but this may just be placebo in my opinion) and seems now gets a very quick gps fix.

Some are complaining about the screen font seems bolder.

This is the one bad thing about being on a themed custom rom. It ties you down somewhat.

I checked the cf-root page now, and there's a file for KI8.
if i flash KI8 now, do i need to delete the old super user and cwm recovery, or just let them be?
in the KI8 file there's a different version of SU from what i have.

Ty

Slug - Thanks for the answer.
Can you tell me if it matters if i flash a firmware that is of a different region than mine?
i have a XEU, and the one in xda is NEE.

Thanks

Edit:
Also, i just saw there's a frankenstein version of KI8, and wandered - are frankenstein versions safe?
My phone's info is:
Baseband: I9100XXKI3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKI3-CL5779579 se.infra@SEP-55 #2
and Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXKI3

the frankenstein i found is PDA: XWKI8| Modem/phone: XXKI4| CSC: XEUKH2
im confused about how to know if it fits my phone, becuase mine says XX and this XW.. TY

It'll work fine, I'm in the UK & my S2 had XX firmware on it, XW will work as well, I flashed that KI8 package last night. One warning though, it's a non-wipe version but I still had to factory reset my S2 after updating as the `android com process` kept force closing & restarting every few seconds, a factory reset cured it.
