Yes, me and Lovey go there because at the old folks home, their selection of single malt is rather limited, and that simply will not do.

And I do not think I am better than others. I have, however, been the best Bob I can be.
 
I wish more places did this, actually. Or at least when someone's crotch spawn starts screaming the servers/owners should kick them out. Sometimes for a treat I go to Einstein Bros for a nova lox bagel. Last time I went there I couldn't enjoy my time because of a mother & her three absolute brats. All three of them were fighting & the mother was talking on the cell phone, trying to talk above her kids. The staff weren't doing anything about it. Along the same lines, one time I was at a VERY nice Italian restaraunt with two friends, & one friend brought her then-three year old son. The kid started banging on the blinds of the window by our table, & at one time he turned around & PUNCHED a man sitting behind him & yelled "HEY DUDE!" I was mortified. My friend refused to tell her son to stop because "He's just having fun." Finally I scolded him & then my friend got mad at me for scolding him! I never went out with them again.

Those are the parents that give us all a bad name.
+1 to you for doin the right thing.
 
I support this restaurant owner's decision 1000%. If I were closer, I'd support him with my dollars too.

My wife and I are child-free. Neither one of us likes children. We would LOVE to have a place near us that does not allow small demon spawn. We would be good paying regulars to that establishment.

Absolutely it is. The question is, should it be allowed. Bob says yes, yes it should.

The second question is if one restaurant does this, is not sued, will others follow suit? I say I hope so. Kids should be seen and not allowed to be around Bob, as the old saw goes.

So parents, take head, some of us are far more pissed at you because you cant raise a proper child than you think. For those parents on the list that raise respectful kids that can be quite when in public, Bob's hat is off to you, good show indeed.

Society restricts access to children to many things. Is it discrimination that 8 year-olds are not permitted to operate a motor vehicle or 12 year-olds cannot sit down at a bar order a brew? Should a 10 year-old be allowed in a casino or strip club?

Excluding children from any area (especially a private establishment) where they present a hazard to themselves or a risk to others is not only acceptable, but responsible behavior.

If you can restrict access to a restaurant based on attire for only gentlemen, then I see nothing wrong with restricting access based on behavior or age.

For the record, I 100% think the owner should be allowed to do this and more restaurants should follow suit. I wonder about the legality of it though. As I think more about it I think Chuck E. Cheese has a policy that adults are not allowed in the business unless they have a kid with them. This place is doing nothing more than reversing that. Adults are only allowed in his restaurant if they have no kids with them.

The bigger question is why would any adult want to go into a Chuck E. Cheeses in the first place?

ETA: I'm old enough to remember when Chuck's was Showbiz. Showbiz had the BEST Hawaiian pizza evar. I crave it sometimes, & I get tempted to call up Chuck's & order a pie to go to see if it's the same. I wonder if they'd have to meet me at the door in order to give me the pizza, lol.

I laugh pretty hard at the unconstitutional/legality comments. I feel pretty strongly that a private business owner (If its a corporate owned chain, then its obviously a completely different story) should be allowed to refuse service to anyone, and for any reason, that he wishes. It's my opinion that the business owner is well within his rights, and I'd still frequent his business, maybe even more so :)

A lot of parents (please note, I did not say all, and kudos to good responsible parents) let their children do whatever they want, and provide little to no guidance and/or structure for their kids behavior, and let their kids disturb the environment all they want. Parents need to understand and be considerate of other customers. My mother and father would discipline me very strongly if I ever acted like these kids do when I was that age.

Hell it is illegal for kids under 18 to even be allowed OUTSIDE in most towns after 11 pm.

So basically kids are glorified dogs.

Land of the free home of the brave. Ohh say can you see..
 
Regarding the legality of the issue:

In Pennsylvania, children are not a protected class, and can be banned from any privately owned establishment.

As a pennsylvania resident and a father of two kids, I hope some more restaurants follow suit. It's always nice to go to an adults only establishment, that isn't a strip club or bar, for a decent meal. I'll stick with the chain restaurants when I want to take the family out.

Kids need control, guidance, rules, and limits. Kids lack good judgment for the most part. And yes, it still is land of the free and home of the brave.
 
I know when my kid acts up in the restaurant. I will take him to my vehicle and correct the problem. Then when he has calm down I will bring him back in. I know other people dont want to see my child act up. Just like I dont want to see theirs.

How many people on here remember the parent saying. Lets go to the car now lol. I still get chills when I tell my son that.

I do agree it should be left to the Store Owner on what he/she wants as its nice not having kids in a nice place enjoying a good meal. I know we have a local place and I have never seen a kid in there. I Love going there with my wife.
