Help KIES 2 problem

Hi All.

I am having a problem running KIES2 onto my computer and can't find any reports of the same issue so am hoping there is a simple solution I am missing.

I bought my Galaxy S in November and couldn't install Kies before but was hoping this time around it may be different going by the positive comments on here about the new version.

My computer is Windows 7 64 bit.

I uninstalled the old version of Kies and then installed the new version 2.0.0.0.11011_16_5

Kies installs but when I attempt to run the program the following error pops up.

Fatal error
Cannot find resource named '{stl_fvs}'. Resource names are case
sensitive. Error at object 'System.Windows.Setter' in markup file
'Kies.Theme;component/Resources/Theme_Default/Default_ToggleBut
ton.xaml'.

Thanks for any help solving this issue.

My Att captivate still uses ver 1 Kies mini, I have to right click Kies, Run As Administrator then connect phone.. Mine will only work this way

Sounds to me as though you may have a bad copy of kies 2, where did you get it from?

Links for kies2 and also the kies uninstall program.
Use the uninstall program to remove kies, then reboot your PC, then install kies2.

Thanks, I got both Kies and the uninstall program links from this forum but will go back through and try it again just in case.

To answer the previous poster thanks but am already running the program as administrator.

Didn't work.

Turns out the uninstaller wasn't actually uninstalling Kies so I did a full uninstall of Kies, a reboot and then installed Kies again (all from the link above) and I still get the same error :-(

DeInstalled .Net Framework 3.5 SP1, started Kies2-Installation (took a lot longer) and started Kies without any problem.

I think Kies uses now .Net 4.

:-)

I have the exact same problem. I can download the new keis but every time I try to run it I get "

Fatal error
Cannot find resource named '{stl_fvs}'. Resource names are case
sensitive. Error at object 'System.Windows.Setter' in markup file
'Kies.Theme;component/Resources/Theme_Default/Default_ToggleBut
ton.xaml'.

I have tried downloading it and removing it and redownloading it about ten times now. Wasted hours.

Bell and Samsung tell me they have never heard of this problem before.

It is driving me crazy.

I just finished uninstalling .Net Framework 3.5 SP1, I don't see a languagepack.
I still have .net 1.1, 2.0 SP2 and .Net 3.0 SP2 . Should I keep all of these ?
I was just about to download the new kies again.

Wish I could say uninstalling net 4.0 worked but it didn't. It was the only pack I have on my computer so can't comment on the previous versions aspect but right now still have no working solution :-(

@sptruk - The minimum System-Requirement ist .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 (a languagepack ist surely only neccesary, if you do not use an US-Version of the pack.
.... and yes keep the other versions on your PC

@charscot :-(

What I wanted to know is: Is Kies showing an error-message when no .Net (3.5 or 4.0) ist installed? And what ist happen - Does the installer of Kies load it from the web by its self?

As my installation of Kies started and there was no .Net-Framework 3.5 installed, it loaded many hotfixes while installation-procedure. (That

It took as lot longer and installed net installer from the web and then came up with the same error (thus making me think the net installer package wasn't the issue) :-(

Are the other system-requirements given? DirectX 9.0c and so on?

edit: I had a look....

System-requirements:
.Net Framework 3.5 SP1 oder h

I remember ... while the unsuccesful installations, I hat active-sync installed. Because i needed it for my XPERIA but not for my Wave S8500. While i was runnin the succesfull installation of Kies, Active-Sync wasn

As far as I know active sync wasn't even installed (haven't had it installed in about 5 years since the last time it was relevant to one of my mobiles).

I uninstalled .Net framework 3.5 SP1 and my computer actually ran the Kies program.

It worked well enough that I was able to install the new firmware on my Galaxy S.

It has a lot of problems though.

For one thing it looks nothing like the screen shots on the download instruction page.

Android 2.2 (Froyo) Upgrade Procedure

It is incredebly slow, I am not able to back up my contacts.
I am not able to see anything that is on my phone.

As for Activesync , I downloaded like they said to but it doesn't even work.
I can run it but it doesn't detect my device (phone) , so it is useless.

Hi sptruk,

i visited the link above. The first two pictures show Kies 1.5

I came here via Google (it was the only page that describes "our" error). But I have no Samsung Galaxy or another Android-mobile. So I can

I can get KIES 2 to run fine, it just won't "recognize my device". It says my device is not supported by KIES 2. ??

I've tried loads of solutions to get my Galaxy S to work on Kies 2 without success - even putting on other computers than my main PC (XP 32 bit). Nothing seems to work for me. It's driving me mad but I won't give up...I have a PC running Vista that I might try.

Am now thinking its the phone configuration rather than the Kies installation.
