Kies Air down?

Its working for me, it worked yesterday and it works now, I have very few uses for it.

What is your exact problem?
And what are you using it for?

Thank you for your reply.

I only got my S2 a couple of days ago.

I have been using Kies Air wifi to transfer music and videos to and from my computer.

Worked well until yesterday evening when I got no response from the Kies Air server.

I run the Keis Air app on my S2, hit Start and connect to the Keis server on http://192.168.1.64:8080. I then got the Keis Air screen. Now i get no response.

A couple of things to confirm, has the address changed what it displays on the phone? Check what kies air on the displays as the ip address, your pc/laptop is still on the same wifi network?

Just a suggestion, but a much easier and quicker way to transfer music, is to go to menu - settings, wireless and networks, connect usb storage. And connect via usb cable and simply copy across.

Or if you want to do it wireless, you could do what I do and sync music from itunes to phone wirelessly with isyncr app, its not free but only a couple of

Thank you. Thank you.

I had the Kies address saved in Firefox and the address on the S2 had changed (one digit).

Would you believe it!

Anyway, working again thanks to you.

Many thanks.

Best,
John

Just to clarify one think. There is no such thing as a Kies Air server. :)

EDIT: Another thing to clarify. Kies blows.

The "server" is the address of the Samsung on your network. Your desktop looks for the same "address" as it used last time. However, your router may well change the address each time your phone connects. This is much more likely to happen if there are various other wifi devices that come and go on your router.

There is an easy route out of this for about 99% of routers. Almost all of them have a setting which enables you to say (effectively) "Use this same address every single time my phone connects to you". Check out the manufacturer of your router. And then google "Netgear (or whatever your router brand is) address reservation" and hopefully you'll find instructions on how to do it. I can't imagine how you could possibly mess up your router doing it, so don't be too worried!

(On my Netgear, for example, it's under Advanced -> LAN Settings)
