Help Kies error "The required section was not found in the inf"

Hi

This is the problem I have a lovely SGS2 but I cant get Kies to work.

When trying to use Kies I

As soon as I plug in the USB the Found New Hardware Wizard window pops up with the following message


"There was a problem installing this hardware

SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device

An error occurred during the installation of the device

The required section was not found in the INF"


Ii have spent waaay to long trying to get this to work and after extensive googleing I have almost run out of hope.

I have tried reinstalling the drivers
USB debugging mode on/off etc

as well as every method listed in this post

Im really tearing my hair out over this (and thats saying something as ive only got a bit left!) so any help would really be appreciated.

My PC is running XP 64 bit

My SGS2:
Model GT-I9100
Android 2.3.3

The required section was not found in the INF

indicates that one or more of the Registry entries in the setup information file don't match those in the actual Registry on your OS. Have you downloaded the latest version of Kies from Samsung's support site here? If that doesn't help then it may be that the x64 version of XP is unsupported.
