I have a Galaxy 5 I bought in February. Nice phone, but my problem is with Kies.
I have a Windows XP professional SP3 desktop at home. Kies 2.0 installs fine, but when I run it, I get an error message and it does not work. When I installed the Kies which came with the phone, I got the 'Mainstage' error and so I downloaded Kies 2.0, but that doesnt work either. 2.0 only indicates there is an error, says it needs to close and send an error message.
I have been reading the messages on Kies issues on this and other forums, so I have used tried the Windows installer uninstall utility, removing kies entries from the registry, disabling my computer wi-fi before install, disabling zone alarm, disabling avg 2011 (full version), turning off different utilities which are loaded at startup, the whole lot.
What I found interesting is that recently, I was updating my video card drivers (Nvidia GeFore GT220) and they would not install until I deleted the Kies 2.0 installation. But I have searched in vain and cant find anyone info on the net about this problem.
I have sent an email to Nvidia on this matter, I am kinda figuring there may be a conflict with the Nvidia mobile server.
