Help Kies Issue

Am hoping someone out there can assist me in someway, tearing my hair out here!!!

Cannot connect my Galaxy s2 to kies. Could last week but not now. Have got the latest firmware and since then it won't connect.

Having connected to Kies i get the following error message,

"Reconnect the device in Samsung Kies(PC Studio) mode. Current connection mode not supported by Kies. Please check USB settings. (Settings-> Applications-> Development-> USB debugging(x))"

I have tried this and it makes no difference, i still get this message. I've re-booted my pc, re-booted my phone, tried connecting wirelessly and still this issue exists. I've uninstalled and re-installed Kies both on the pc and the phone yet still i cannot connect. It would appear since i've installed the latest Kies firmware the problem has appeared. Is this a common problem with this latest update?

As the mojority of us are waiting for ICS, i need this to work. Getting more than frustrated!!!

I'm no techie, but yesterday I watched the owner of our local t-mobile store update a Samsung Captivate (AT&T) from Eclair to Gingerbread for me, and he had to install the previous Kies (whatever the one before 2.2 or whatever it is) because the PC wouldn't recognize the phone for nothing with the latest Koes.
Maybe he used Air or Mini... I tried not to bother him with newbie questions, so I'm not sure.

And this probably has nothing to do with your situation.
Just thought I'de throw my 2 cents in.
Sorry I can't help better.
Thank you
