Help Kies on 64 bit Win 7

Shofar

Android Enthusiast
GT I9100 unlocked. Not rooted
OS 2.3.4

Windows 7, 64bit.

Installed Kies, ran the Kies update but it will not recognize that my phone is connected. Ran the trouble shooting - nothing.

Would like to get the ICS but looks like I cannot.

Any workaround to install the ICS firmware?

Thanks.

Try to reconnect the phone with KIES. I used Kies / Win 7 (x64) and it works well.

Sometimes there is a problem with connecting to Kies. Have you downloaded the latest Kies? Check in the SGS2 product page, get the latest Kies and see if it helps.

Also, once you install kies, start up Kies first and then connect the phone.

Other option is to download the firmware (android 4.0) and upgrade through Odin. But of course, remember to backup your data / settings on the phone before you proceed.

I have the same problem too with the latest Kies. No idea why.

Found out how to solve it after posting this thread:

Try these steps.
1. Open Kies on pc
2. Turn off sgs2.
3. Wait few seconds then turn it on again.
4. Wait for it to finish loading then connect it to the p (kies should be running by now)
5. Wait for the phone storage to be recongised by W7.
6. If phone is not recognised by kies, press the power button to enable the lock screen, then unlock your phone. This should enable Kies to now see your phone.

Tough luck for me, Kies still not out in UK...

at the moment ive been having trouble running kies on 64bit win 7, for me its a case of if i run it once it will connect, try it a second time and no matter what i do it wont, i have to press trouble shoot, re install the drivers, reboot computer, end proocess the 3x kies entries in task manager, then i can run and connect to kies ( this is the latest version of kies downloaded 3 days ago)

I have now set my computer not to automatically start the kies process on boot up of the computer (windows icon, in search bar type msconfic then press enter, then select start up and untick anything with kies) so now i can connect once, when im done and want to connect a secon time i need to end process all kies in task manager, then re run kies.

I urge caution with the Kies SW!

I was originally just going to sync some photos on my bog standard T-Mobile Galaxy S2 when Kies told me to "update my firmware" so I thought that sounds good, so I followed the instructions to the letter and .................... Kies just bricked my nice new phone.

I really cannot be bothered to go back and deal with the clueless staff at my local T-Mobile store, so I called a phone shop Mobile Phone Unlocking + Flashing Equipment, Unlocking + Debranding Service, Unlock Codes, Cables, Tools, Accessories, Unlocking Service, Firmware Upgrade and they told me they have about 30 of the things all bricked by the Kies SW! and all of which are waiting for Jtagging at

So long as you dont mind voiding your waranty on your new phone. Personally i would take it back to T-Mobile to get it sorted / replaced and keep the warranty in tact
