Help Kies Question (possibly a dumb question!)

Folks,
a friend of mine just bought a Galaxy S2. Great news - but he uses a Mac and can't get Kies to work. I can't work Macs, but I was wondering if I could just take my laptop round and use my Kies to update his phone to ICS? I don't use Kies for anything more than firmware upgrades so I won't be worried if I lose backups or anything.
What I'm really asking is whether Kies is tied to one particular handset or if it's OK to use if for more than one phone.

From what I know is that you could use it for multiple devices as I had updated my gf GS2 on my com and then updated a galaxy note without a problem. So I don't think it's tied to one device or anything.
