Help Kies says 4.0.4 downloaded, but phone says no

I repeatedly get the notification from Kies on my computer that new firmware has been downloaded for my Galaxy SII but when I plug my phone in, it says 4.0.3 is the latest firmware.

Why is Kies teasing me if I cant upgrade to 4.0.4? Bastard.

I have a vodafone branded UK SII.

Anyone successful at getting 4.0.4 yet?

Android 4.0.4 has not been released for the Vodafone CSC code yet. Only CSC codes XEU and CPW for the UK have been updated. Could be a mismatch on your CSC codes.

Ok. This is interesting. How does this mismatch happen?

Just to help with background: I am from the US, but bought the phone in the UK. This means my laptop is from US. But I update Kies here in the UK so I should have UK drivers and stuff, right? Besides, the SII isn't even in American so how can it get that confused?

See post #1, here, for reasons why a mismatch may happen or a phone not update via Kies.

The important thing is the CSC code and not where the phone is bought or used.

gotcha! Im on VOD which means UK. That's what I thought. Still doesn't explain why Kies sucks at life, but oh well.

BTW, that is a nice guide you put together!!
