Downloaded kies,connect sg2 to laptop it says in top left corner connecting but consistantly fails,anyone know why this is happening?so i dont get option to update!!also tried to update via kies air but cant
 
Any possibility that you are tying to run kies in a virtual machine machine? If so, this will be the outcome.
 
I have this same problem. Try running it as 'administrator' it seemed to work, then fails again.

Edit: I'm using Windows 7 64bit.
