Help Killing Apps and Screen refresh

So when you hold/press the menu button, you should see a list of apps that are running. Well in my case, I press it and it shows no apps running.. Than I press the back key or home, I press the menu button again than it shows the apps to kill..

Second I kill maps for example.. Than go into battery after 1 hour, I still see Maps running with stop button be pressed.. I press stop and the task is still there later on.. I know android kills the process when it does not see it running..

Third when I unlock my phone. home screen refreshes.. and so is the list of apps.. Anyone seeing that?

Thanks..

What menu button? You mean the recent apps button? You don't long press that to see recent apps, just press it. Also, that isn't running apps, it's recent apps.

Yes the recent apps button... when you press it. it should show you all the recent apps and on the left you will see clear all.. Once in a while it will show blank.

I have to go to home and do the process again to show the list of apps..

So sometimes when you open it it's blank, then you go back in immediately after and it's not blank? I have not seen that.

That said, I NEVER clear that out. What's the need?

So having 15 apps open does not affect the phone?

Two things:

1. No need to compulsively close apps, Android will close apps as needed
2. The recent app list is not a list of open apps. It's apps you have used recently (hence it's name).

That said, there are some apps you don't want to leave truly open and running (anything that uses GPS, for example). But all you really have to do with those apps is use the back button to exit them as opposed to using home or the app switcher to go somewhere else.

Most but not all apps adhere to framework design and protocol, so some apps can be rogue and need to be killed. Actually they should just be uninstalled rather than keep killing them. You can tell the evil apps by battery use stats.

Some games, social and media apps are bad for this. Even if you turn notifications and other bling off.
