Help Kindle App-Transferring Mobi's to Note *Fail*

Hey folks, I've been trying to transfer some Mobi's to read in the Kindle app and cannot seem to get it to work.

The files transfer but when I try to read them they won't open and the Kindle app shuts down.

Any ideas on how to get this to work. (These files are independent and were not purchased from Kindle. From my understanding, this should not be a pre-requisite for failure.

Any ideas/Help?
