Kindle Fire or Galaxy Tab 7 Plus?

Seriously trying to figure out if the Galaxy is worth the extra $200. I'm being swayed towards the Fire is simple:

I'm already a Prime member because the amount of ordering I do on Amazon every year makes the free shipping and streaming to my HTPC more than worth the annual cost. So with that in mind, all the extras that come with the Fire as a Prime member make the choice hard to justify the extra $200

What's pointing me towards the Galaxy is:

  • More RAM(I think 1GB is essential if you plan on keeping it for a while)

  • Honeycomb 3.2(And ICS will eventually be available)

  • Ability to skype if wanted to(I can do this on my Vigor as well but would be nice to have a bigger screen to see my family from overseas if they happen to call while I'm out)

  • Full market access without rooting(this means I can use anybody's appstore, bookstore and mp3 store I wanted to)

  • Expandable memory(not really sure how concerned I should be with this but its nice that its there and I wouldn't have to worry if wifi is available for cloud service like on a plane)

What do you guys think? I'm having a hard time with this. All I am really looking for is an ereader, video player, mp3 player that I can take on the plane and in the gym for cardio days (ugh). Something that is at least the size of a book but not as big as a magazine to carry around with me.

Any help, advice, or opinions are appreciated as always!

From what I understand, the Fire is pretty locked down in terms of apps, it will only have access to the amazon app store. There are loads there, but it's not the full market.

If you're not going to root etc, I'd probably prefer the Galaxy over the Fire (that's not from personal experience though, just what I'd go for if I were you.

I would have to go with the Galaxy tab 7 based on the same points you posted.

More RAM, HC OS and expandable memory. That's totally worth the extra $200.

I've researched via YouTube reviews, online reviews, and in-store browsing. I found that the K-Fire was not as responsive to touch and just seemed generally limited compared to the Tab.
Really, at this stage we're stuck paying the extra for the extras.
