Kindle for Android APP AVAILABLE!

I'm able to get into the store fine but what I found is I can't find the free books that way. I have to get them on a PC and sync with the app.

Awesome! I'm do exited that I can now have my Kindle books on my phone. Been waiting for this all year. Works great so far.

I just did it...worked fine. Did you get an error or something?
I did a search for low to high cost and finally found the freebies, but for some reason the list is much different than the freebie list on their website on a PC. I'm new to this whole Kindle thing so I need to get up to speed. :)

I've been waiting for this app! I just couldn't justify spending money on a device that only reads books. Now that I have Kindle on my EVO, I'm good to go!

Plus, where I live, folks stay getting robbed of their fancy devices while on the subway or bus (which is where I would use an eReader)...

i kept getting an error when trying to go to the kindle store from the kindle app so i downloaded the program onto my pc, got the free books from amazon.com on my computer and then connected my evo and it found the "archived" books and then just clicked on them to dl them to my evo.

pretty cool.

here is a couple of screen grabs for those interested...

This is how a page looks on the EVO (default settings)

There are several text sizes available along with three different font/background color combos.

Yeah, that's really hard to read, eh?

Seriously...somebody said earlier that it'll never be the same as e-ink. I have to say...who cares? If you can't read that on the large EVO screen, e-ink or hand lettered calligraphy won't help you. It's crystal clear, large font type. Perfect for reading.

I was pleasantly surprised about how good it looked. If I were to use it a lot, I would make the background black and the text white. The text can also get much bigger and when you are finished with a page you just flick the screen left or right to advance to the next or previous page.

Does the Kindle itself offer that option?

Well, we all have our druthers...but that's as good or better (mostly better) than any book page I've ever read...and I read a lot.

So it says that it only works for Android 1.6 or better... does this mean that it won't work on my HTC Hero, which is operating on 1.5?

You can change the color to white text over black background or Sepia which is brown text over tan background.

Woah! I like the black on white...but there is something for everybody. Actually, I now like the black on sepia more. Oh, yeah...you can adjust the brightness too.

Thanks for the tip.
